This worked really well for me! With everyone one doing the "tank banger" thing all dive long, it was the perfect "other sound" to get just "my dive buddies" attention. I did not have any issues with it rattling with the cap on, it remained soundless until cap was removed. It was handy with the lanyard to clip to my integrated weight rings so it was easily accessible. This will sound funny, but with all the "noise" below the water (panga boat motor, chomping of fish on coral and even your own "exhale" noise, this was clear and distinct. I simply loved it! The Sea of Cortez is not to be missed and without this handy device, my dive buddy would have missed much that I saw.

Bought this for my recent dive trip to Bermuda and was very happy with it. Doesn't sound very loud when shaken on land but the sound carries well enough underwater to get the attention of wandering dive buddies instead of having to swim after them and grab a fin! Probably would not be loud enough for emergency use (e.g., if you were separated from your dive group) but our divemaster appreciated that it was a different sound than his tank banger and their emergency rattle. The magnet in the cap kept it from jingling all the time, which would just be annoying. After reading other reviews that complained of losing the cap, I retied it to make sure it was secured.
