Badger BasketCombo Bin Toy Storage Unit and Book Shelf for Kids with 3 Baskets - White

When I read a few of the reviews, I thought about getting something else. It was what I wanted but I was scared. So, I am reviewing this myself to put to rest some issues others had that concerned me.1. Smell: there was an odor. It was a new product chemical smell. It was a tiny bit strong upon opening the box, but I can barely smell it now after a few hours. My room does not have a window that will open. So, I haven't aired it out.Styrofoam: yes, there was styrofoam on the floor when I finished putting it together. A vacuum will get it up easily. The reason for the styrofoam is because that baby was packed perfectly. I do not care for a little styrofoam because it came without any damage at all. They really made sure it was it was safe and secure.The cardboard drawers: They are cardboard covered with fabric just like the cubed cubbie containers you find at walmart or dollar store. I really like them. I put my grandson's clothes in it to have on hand when he visits. One drawer holds about 10 pair of underwear and about the same number of sox with room to spare. Another held about 6 pair of shorts, jeans and shirts. The other held jeans, shirts etc. So they will hold a good amount of clothes. He is 4 years old though. It wont hold that in adult clothes. lolAssembly: I took anywhere from 30 to 45 minutes. My nephew came in toward the end and it was nice to have an extra set of hands. It wasn't hard to understand the directions and all the holes were in alignment. I could have done it alone without having a frustrated fit. Lol.Sturdy: I was very pleased with how sturdy it is. I placed it onto a wooden storage bin that matched it and it worked great. I just secured it to the wall. One of my pictures shows this.Delivery: It actually came within very few days. Other things I ordered at the same time, took longer to come in.Shelve and cubbie space: i will admit that I was extremely surprised by the cubbie and shelf space. I am not kidding. It holds 12x12 memory books that won't fit anywhere else. I did leave the top trim off to be able to get them in and out easy. I didn't want to have to turn them sideways every time I got those out. The same also for some of my larger drawing pads.Worth the money: Absolutely worth the money.Would I Reccomend to Family: AbsolutelyMy 4 year old grandson loves it. He came in the room all excited and said it was just what he needed. lol.....really? I needed it more than he did. 😂 kids....go figure.

I would say this storage unit is priced right. It came well packaged with additional mdf panels to reinforce the packaging and protect the pieces inside. I've never obtained one of these prefab units that went to such an extreme to protect the package contents, so kudos to the manufacturer in that regard. It is obvious with the unit I received (white finish) that the pieces are painted, thought the finish is smooth and there was no excessive offensive odor. After several months of use, and many, many occasions in which my toddler has climbed inside of the lower bins, the finish shows virtually no signs of wear and all the pieces are still intact. I took my time putting it together and had no difficulty as the directions where sufficiently helpful. I do recommend using a cordless drill will a variable clutch to get the screws tight without stripping the holes. It didn't seem like holes would strip easily but it's an extra precaution worth taking with any product like this. I wondered it it was going to be very sturdy even as I fastened the last board into place. It seemed rather loose. but once the last 2 screws were in it seemed quite solid.There are a number of great reviews on this product but there are also some that aren't very flattering. If you get yours in the same condition I got mine and you took the time to put it together right you should be more than happy with the end result.

I really like the look and storage space this unit offers. You definitely get what you pay for though. As expected, it is not solid wood and does seem to be made of particle or mdf material; expect the back to be the thin boards that you slide into place. My largest complaint and concern with this storage unit is the strong smell. I initially thought it was the baskets so I put them outside. However, after putting the storage unit together and removing the packing boxes, it became obvious it was the unit. Since we are in the midst of New England winter, we put the unit in our basement for a few days to help it off gas as it's warmer in the basement than outside (heat helps off gassing). We then moved it into our 3 yr old's room and thought it was better...that is, until I found her door closed and when I opened it I got a nose full of the strong chemical smell. Her room is probably 5x10 to give you an idea of the closed off space. You probably wouldn't notice it if the room was larger or door was never closed. But this tells me it is not even close to done off gaming. I'm not sure what the smell is (it can't be good) and I'm thoroughly disappointed. If I had to do again, I'm not sure I'd buy it again. The unit does fit our space and needs perfectly BUT I feel terrible about the smell. If you are concerned about your indoor air, I would not buy outside of the summer months when windows can be open for days.

I searched and searched and searched for something like this to combine the toy-box and book shelf in my daughter’s room. I am very happy with my purchase! I am able to store quite a bit of books on the top shelf, organize smaller toys in the bins, and also organize larger toys in the bottom. The middle bin is the perfect size for coloring and activity books - and crayons. The stand seems very sturdy and was pretty simple to put together. The only “issue” I had was getting the back panel to slide perfectly into the slots. I did get it! A lot of the reviews that I read mentioned a foul smell - I personally did not notice a smell. I posted an up close picture of the stand itself and a picture of how it looks in the room to help you get a feel for the sizing! Hope this helps!
