C++ All-in-One For Dummies

This is a great book for beginners in C++ , it even explains how code blocks is installed and how it works. Though it explains an old version of code blocks ( did not affect my understanding at all) but, it's great , simple and easy to understand.

Many years ago when I was at college I did a little pascal and machine code programming not something that I kept up with so I decided to try and learn C++ and purchased this book. I'm not quite sure who this book is aimed it's full of waffle and spurious comparisons that the author uses to try and explain C++ some of which turn out to be more confusing than the actual example. I can only conclude they needed to pad this out as they needed to fill a book. What you learn in the first 3 chapters they could of covered in 3 pages. Personally I would prefer a more direct approach telling how the commands are structured and examples of how to use them but without all the anecdotes. You probably can and I probably will teach myself something with this book but it's a hard read full nonsense.

Would give it 5 stars but it's missing two things. There are no projects to practice what you learn. Also it doesn't really teach separating content out into separate files. Which in today's OOP programming is widely practiced. Everything is piled into the main file.However it teaches the basics to intermediate syntax and code quite well. All in all worth buying but you will have to put external study in online.

Two errors in the code examples/descriptions by the end of chapter 3. As a complete novice in coding its a little worrying, but its useful to be able to download from the web and run the code examples... I'll keep going with this book, but it looks like a more rigorous edit is warranted.

Got it read it, got board don't remember any C++

Have not used yet but find the for dummies book very easy to understand
