It states to change every 12,000 miles, but Toyota filter is changed every 30,000. Should I be fine changing every 30,000?

It's really a matter of convenience and good practices, not money! I change mine every year (15K miles approx.)and in between I check for debris, tare and ware. When the air filter has accumulated some debris a good blowing with an air hose normally helps or even tapping the area that filters against a clean garage floor! The bottom line is, if you check your air filter regularly, say every oil change, and it looks dirty at 12K-15K miles..., then replace it. If not, then change it anyway to prevent issues with gas consumption and the risk of it breaking and letting debris into your carburetor or injectors!
