This fall, when our school told us we would open in distance learning, I had to come up with reasonably priced items that students could use for at home experiments. I am so glad I found these bottles. It's true that they are not dishwasher safe or heat proof, but they work well for chemical reactions that don't generate a lot of heat. I tested them at home and they worked fine up to 50 deg Celsius (did not test them beyond that). The plastic is clear, so easy to see color changes. They are lightweight so they also work great for density measurements using a 100 g. portable scale. They are easy to clean with a standard test tube or small bottle brush. They are also not so expensive, so if students lose or damage them, it is not a great loss to the school. I also like that they have flat bottoms, so they can stand up by themselves. They hold about 40 ml (with about 1/2 cm air space at top) and stand about 10.5 cm tall. If you write on them with a sharpie, you can take the markings off easily with rubbing alcohol without damaging the plastic. Overall, I am finding them very handy for experiments and will probably continue using them even after we return to in-person instruction.
