This is an Invaluable Teaching Tool for Beginners & its fun !
My uncle is a music instructor for over 50 years. I decided to learn the piano and have a problem, like many with memorizing the notes for the left hand. He suggested this book and it is really a very resourceful book. It reviews and teaches many aspects of what you will encounter when you are learning from a regular beginner music book such as tempo, signatures and more (I just started using this book). The applications are very practical and I am finding this a very useful tool and it is actually fun ! This is great for kids and even adults.

Great addition to our homeschool music class
Great addition to our homeschool music class. Easy enough to follow especially if you know the basics. I use it to teach my children piano. I'm not an expert at all in playing but did take lessons as a child and have been able to teach them using this and some other of their books just fine. Classic that still works well.

Great theory book for young and old alike with fun and interesting exercises.
Wonderful accompaniment for the preliminary level student. Thompson provides writing exercises to learn what the musical symbols mean as well as fun and intriguing - in the fashion of decoding familiar songs done through fill in the blank style and so much more. This will hold a young child's interest as well as the beginner of any age - young or old! Enjoy!

Good product but hard for little ones
I am using this along with John Thompson's Easiest Piano Course to teach my children piano and how to read notes at the same time. I will admit that it is not ideal for young kids, especially my 5 year old. They love doing it and learning music and piano, but having them draw the clefs and such is a bit much for them.

Well done!
The illustrations in this book are charming! More importantly, the concepts taught are perfect for the beginning piano/music student. Just enough work, just enough challenge, just enough repetition. We love the entire John Thompson piano series, but I'd recommend this book for any young student, using any piano method. My 8 year old beginning piano player ASKS to do this book. Enough said!

Great book for piano fundamentals, even for beginning students
This is a great book to start kids with the fundamentals of piano. I purchased it for my youngest son when he started piano. His piano teacher loved it so much, he had me buy another 2 for my older 2 in lessons to review and really hammer home the concepts.
