It is great, but you need the driver
The cord works great, but its not plug and play so you need to get the driver from the manufacturer. Unfortunately nothing in the amazon page tells you where to go.It can be found atSilabs dot com slash developers slash usb-to-uart-bridge-vcp-driversOnce you have that, then all you need to know is how to talk to old school com ports. But the cord works great.

DB9-4P4C works great for me
This is a great cable. I got it to connect Skyfi 3 to my tablet using SkySafari. Works great. I may try to connect through my laptop with ascom at some point.I see no cons with this cable. The one I got does not have a usb connection. I have one already for other purposes I know works.Jack

Does not work for LX90
Contrary to the product statement, this cable will not work for the LX90. I went through several cables at Amazon and the only setup that worked was a USB to RS232 and then RS232 to aux (phone) jack. These cables don't have the correct mapping.

It works well, you will need to download the drivers to your computer for it to work.

Works if you know how to manually install a driver
It was mentioned before in these reviews that it will not work out of the box, you must search silicon labs CP2102 drivers and follow the instructions in the information file in order for this to work only then will the Meade telescope software detect your telescope

Funally, something that works reliably and is plenty long enough!
Ok so I had enough of the legacy USB-to-serial, THEN Serial-to-RJ9(?) putzing around, what with 32-bit VS 64-bit drivers and the whole counterfeit FTDI chipset Microsoft-policed craziness that renders lot of the cheap Chinese cables useless. So in desperation, I ordered this for use on my Windows 10 laptop. PROBLEM SOLVED. And it looks a lot less messy too. I wish I had done this BEFORE spending hours trying to troubleshoot connections and drivers. If you are looking for a solution to update an Autostar or to connect to a PC, throw away the legacy crap, buy this and save yourself a lot of grief.

It just works
Not really a lot to say... it works. Plugged it in, Windows recognized it, and I was able to update my Meade AutoStar 497 controller no problem.
