Q: what type of outlet is needed? how do you plug it in?

It's a 110 (115) volt plug. Standard 3 prong.

Q: What does the "built-in pump" do? Wil it pump up to drain into a sink or tub, or must the unit be positioned higher?

Yes it has the ability to pump up and out. Mine feeds to a watering tank about 4 feet off the floor with no problems since new.

Q: Is the pump head at least 6ft. namely, can it pump 6 fpt vertically?

It should. It's rated for it. It pumped 3 ft vertical for me.

Q: Does the bulit in pump empty out using pressure or is it gravity drain ? If pressure what is the hight it will push the water up from basement ?

There is a built-in pump that works well. The manual states that the maximum distance the pump is capable of is 16.4 feet. I feel like that is a little optimistic. The “head” is not listed, but I would guess it would do between 8 to 10 feet at best.
