DEVAISE 2-Drawer Wood Lateral File Cabinet with Lock for Office Home, Black

I had to put this product together. Not the best directions but got it done. Looks nice and works well.

Amazon sent me a return as a new item. The box had been opened, and there were no assembly instructions. The manufacturer's customer service was EXCELLENT, though, and they emailed me the instructions. The cabinet is complex for a flat pack item, and the assembly took some time, but the instructions were straightforward and precise. It seems to be a good quality, and the finish looks like real wood. Very pleased.

When I opened the box there were a million screws and lots of wooden pieces so I was worried about putting it together. But the instructions were really detailed and clearly not written by someone in China with broken English. The images were especially detailed, which ensured I had the piece facing the right way so I never had to take it apart after a mistake. It took me 2 hours to put together.My recommendation is to use a power screwdriver if you have one because mine worked great and saved a bunch of time and energy. Also, you have to skip ahead a page to see how to take apart the drawer slides before you attach those pieces from where they tell you to.I only give it 4 stars because the bottom piece of the drawers is the weakest part of the drawer. Everything else is nice sturdy wood, yet the bottom, which hold all the weight is a flexible, thin, flimsy piece of wood.

Really like this file cabinet. We were able to put it together in just under 2 hours, just need to pay close attention to the instructions. Very sturdy and looks nice. Only issue was the big warning sticker they put on the top side of the top board… was very sticky and had to use WD-40 to remove it.

We needed a lateral file to file a specific spot. This unit fit the bill. The assembly process was reasonably straight forward but it took quite awhile to put the thing together. In the future, I will purchase cabinets, etc., already assembled.

We have a furniture assembly person here now trying to put this together.3/1/24 Assembly person got it together after having to redrill some holes to line up and discovered that the drawer dividers and file holders were missing.Communicate with Amazon and they offered to replace the item, we have already paid someone to put it together, so that is worthless.Communicated with the vendor DEVAISE and will await their answer.FYI: We did 2 Ikea bookcases, no problems, and one Prepac media cabinet, no problem. This was a disaster.

I ordered this a few weeks ago and finally had time to open and assemble it last night - the box was damaged when I received it but I had already decided I won't be returning it regardless of the condition.Out of the box, one of the drawer side panels had a crack in it but it's not visible since it's inside the drawer (plus I already have the matching 3-drawer file cabinet so it's not worth returning it over). The paint is so thin on the particle board that you can see right through it up close - but not as noticeable from further away.The directions were very strange...I disregarded the instructions for the drawer-assembly part since it was much easier to assemble the drawers separately* and then put them into the frame after the fact.*Note: if you do it this way, make sure you pay attention to which drawer face matches which drawer catch (there are plastic catches on the left side of each drawer that keep it from tipping forward by preventing both drawers from being open at the same time).Overall, as mentioned in my title...you get what you pay for. This is a decent little file cabinet for the price. Considering it's just going to sit in my home office with minimal traffic, it should hold up just fine.

This file cabinet has plenty of space for both standard size pages and legal size pages. It's well-balanced and is an attractive addition to the room. Solid material. I'd buy again.
