Too basic I would not recommend unless your just learning to read… and even at that…
There was nothing ingenuitive about this book. If you google or look up on Pinterest “Montessori style teaching” you will learn the same information in a fraction of the time. There were no specifics in this book. Maybe like 2 or 3 examples. Just basic definition like explanations… then chapter recaps that restated the same thing you just read but in bullet points. The whole book took me like a casual 7 hours to read with a toddler running around. Anyways. I learned nothing new. And now I will have to get another book. I recommend the “Raising Good Humans” by Hunter Clarke-Fields”. Extremely educational. Also the type o’s were pretty bad. I mean even the cover has type o’s. But the font in general in large which makes the pages more pleasant to read.

Great for parents and ECE teachers
I am an early-childhood teacher and a mom, the Montessori method has always appealed to me. However, I thought the cost put it out of my reach. This book explains ways to implement the ideas of Montessori with little to no cost. I like that each chapter opens with a quote fron Montessori or one of her followers. It really helps the reader connect to Maria's message. Then, I also appreciated that each chapter closed with a summary notes section. This allows the reader to reference back to the main ideas and takeaways from the chapter. That also really drives home the point of each chapter. Overall, I look forward to implementing so much of this book.

Insightful
I really appreciate the Montessori methods, and use them a lot with my own children before I even realized it. My favorite is letting a child try and figure out a problem on their own before gently offering to help. One of my boys gets frustrated easily, but with some kind encouragement, he can usually figure stuff out on his own. That makes him so excited and ready to try more things. If you're always butting in and trying to "help," it's going to hurt them more in the long run.

Vague, awkward writing style, and lot of typos
This book is really vague and doesn’t really offer actionable steps towards disciplining your child in a Montessori fashion. There are a few great nuggets but the book seems like a first draft. So many awkward sentences it seems like the entire thing was google translated. This book seems like a first draft and needs some serious revisions.

Try to ignore the Typos
There are so many typos! If you can get past that, there is good information and helpful advice in this book.

Good advice. Needs a polish
I enjoyed the quick and simple recommendations presented in a guidebook style. It’s definitely a useful read for those that already have an understanding of Montessori principles but need some help on implementation. One noteworthy issue that I had while reading is that I felt the book needed another good pass through editing. There were a lot of paragraphs that I had to go back and interpret what the author meant to write or what words she intended to use. I don’t consider myself an excessive stickler for grammar but the errors and clunky sentences greatly tripped up smooth readability. It got to the point that I would highlight passages and read them to my wife out loud because they were entertainingly rough. Hopefully the next revision can smooth some things out.

Very valuable book--awesome opportunity to get a grasp on Montessori without overwhelm.
The book is great! A fast read and a wonderful primer to the Montessori method. This book helped me figure out: a) if Montessori is a good fit for the approach I wish to take with my children b) basic ways to introduce activities without getting overwhelmed. Maggie Gardner says a lot with a little and uses simple words and phrases, but I did find that sometimes the grammar seemed under-informed--like the book was translated by a non-native English speaker. If that's the case, then it would have been worth the extra effort to find someone to take a quick pass through the book (maybe consider this for the next edition?). I would have given five stars if the grammar was straight and I only say this because the content was so compelling and flowed so well, outside of those "hiccups". Overall, I'm really happy with this purchase and 100% recommend this book to parents and future-parents who wish to have an understanding of the Montessori approach without becoming experts in the process.
