Will not always fit flat to the wall
It's very nice. But the back surface of cover plates are generally hollowed out a bit, so that they will fit flat against the wall, even when used with a box with tabs that sit on the surface of the wall, which is common for outlet boxes installed after a house is already built, or for boxes installed in wood cabinets. The back surface of this cover plate is hardly hollowed out at all. So after finishing this wood cover plate, and trying to install it, I found out that it left a gap all around. I had to chisel out the cabinet surface a bit, so the tabs on the box would recess into the surface, and only then could the plate be installed flush to the cabinet surface.

Not a perfect fit and not so even wood, too thick!
I bought this wall plate to match natural maple wood cabinets in my kitchen. The wall plate size is Height: 5.6693", Length: 3.46", Width: 0.315", according to Brainerd website. It is larger than standard plastic wall plate, so be careful, if you have two or more plates next to each other or your receptacle is right over a splash guard - it may not fit. Because the front of the plate is hollowed out in the center, regular cord plugs will fit, but a power adapter's prongs will not reach the metal contact inside the receptacle due to the thickness of the plate. The Brainerd website does not specify what wood they use, but it is definitely NOT pine, probably not ash either. The wood grain is almost invisible. Maybe it's alder or poplar. However, on my wall plate there is a noticeable darker nut in one corner and it will be visible with clear polyurethane finish I plan to apply. The center screw provided is very dark, so I will have to use the original one, with almond painted head.I had no problems replacing the wall plate, but the fit is not as good as the plastic plate. There are visible uneven gaps around the almond sockets and there is no way to adjust it. On a bright side, the reverse side is slightly hollowed out and has a metal protective lining against electrical sparks.

A no thrills outlet cover, exactly what I wanted ...
A no thrills outlet cover, exactly what I wanted. It is larger then a regular outlet cover from a big box store but I painted this and added that little extra to the room. The recessed part where screw goes does make cover stick out a bit more then a regular outlet, in my case it only adds even more as stated above.

Good Outlet Cover
I bought several of these for my daughter's room and stained them to match the furniture. I prepped them properly, but they still came out just the slightest bit blotchy in my opinion. However, no one else seems to notice, and think they look fantastic. Overall, a solid product.

A good buy
For those of you looking to upgrade the look of your wall and electrical plates, this is a very good product. Either mount as it is or a nice thin coating of a clear seal or light stain. The grain pops out and accents any room. For the good eye.. a nice buy.
