The other two lasted for years. First one bought in 2008, second one 2013. This new purchase, after one trip is falling apart and looks worse the 2013 purchase. I am very disappointed the Raffia, it is unraveling and looks all scraggily. I have to trim it every time I where it. The material used for the cord also appears to have been changed and is a lot stiffer. The neutral color and classic design work equally well with a sundress at the beach or battling weeds in the garden. The strap that keeps the hat in place allows the hat to sit a bit loosely against the head while not getting blown off with every stiff breeze, so it's less hot on the forehead than hats that require a suction fit to stay put. The high center of the hat lets air circulate and leaves plenty of room for my hair when it's put up in a bun. I am finding this hat to be cool and comfortable. So far it's standing up to the nasty humidity around here without losing it's shape, perhaps owing to the smart design of the slightly downward angle of its wide shading brim. The strap can be switched out with any other strapping material to taste. Hope it stands the test of time because I just love the fit, style and comfort of this hat!
