My grandson has a hatchling turtle, and this is just what we needed for his UVB light. About $5 cheaper than we could find the exact bulb locally.

We always use this light. It’s perfect for our turtles needs.

These work adequately, but do not put out as much UVB as Exo Terra bulbs and typically don't last more than 6 months. After 6 months, the UVB output is about half or less. Exo Terra bulbs can last up to 9 months to a year before a significant drop in UVB in my experience. Based on other's experiences, these bulbs don't give out as much UVC (bad UV) as Exo Terra, but I don't know how true that is.

This light is the right temperature for a gargoyle gecko. Since they are sensitive to temperature this light is perfect

These lights, called "UVB" are to give our turtles the benefits of sunlight or vitamin D because they do not get it in captivity unless out in the sun at least 20 minutes a day. Mine is outside with sun if he chooses to go in it so I don't rely on him going under it every day on te platform but during the winter, even here in Florida he needs this light when he can't go outside. The other light is a heat lamp, called "UVA". It is a 45 watt incandescent sattco from Amazon which gives turtle 90 degrees heat at 13". Some people (I was) are using 75 watt which at 13" gives 130 degrees!!. I found that out after my turtle didn't bask for 2 years and I bought a berrcom handheld thermometer on Amazon and was shocked to discover that. Good thing my turtle was smart enough to avoid the platform during that time.Now he goes under both to get healthy. Set the berrcom to "surface temperature. Also good to check the water temperature even if you have a heater. Or in a feeding container as it should be a little warm. Most administrators on FB turtle groups are recommending 65 to 75 watt bulbs. I ask them how to put it on the ceiling! I have a 6" Eastern Painted turtle. But the recommendations for all the species are 90 degrees for the UVA on the platform. I have mixed in the sattco review because so important.

i ordered this item with a one day delivery shipping charge because it is imperative for the health of my turtle. i can't find the compact fluorescent anywhere locally so i ordered it.....i received it and it boasts a year + lifespan, but advises you to change it after a year as it may lose some of its effectiveness.....fine....it lasted exactly a week. nice. i had ordered the reptisun 5.0 compact previously and it didn't last but a couple of months, but i thought i would try again....these aren't cheap....and who would have suspected that its performance could be LESS satisfactory.....i mean "how LOW can it go?" obviously, far lower. i didn't realize when i ordered this that it was a zoo-med product or i would have known not to....i have had awful performance with their basking pot lamps lasting 1/4 of the time it was supposed to.....and an equally hard time with petco trying to get then to back up their product. i had better stop before i say more.

Not happy with this product the light is on but not giving off any light. I’ve bought this exact same product many times before from PetSmart and have never had this problem. What a waste of money I really hope the company gets back to me from this review and send me a new one or give me a refund
