Barron's AP Chemistry

Not accurate
First off, this book is outdated. On top of that, the structure of the book does not make sense. It starts off with "diagnostic tests" to determine what you know and don't know about chemistry, which in theory is a strong idea. However, these diagnostic tests include things that will not even REMOTELY be tested on the exam. It makes you study things you DO NOT NEED! The practice tests they include are very poor in quality. They include outdated questions, and the questions are not even similar to the real ap chemistry exam (this is coming from someone who has taken numerous practice exams). Do not buy this, instead look for a different prep book. Waste of money.

I love how this book is organized
I love how this book is organized, with enough information about each topic but not an overload. The practice problems and tests are also great. Very helpful for tutoring this subject!

A fruitless endeavor
The multiple choice sections of the practice tests are literally just variations of the same sets of questions, over and over again... no variety at all. This book is worth less than the ink and paper it is made out of.

Recommended by a College Prep High School
Recommended by my son's College Prep High School to study for his AP Chemistry exam. My son found the book to be an excellent source to use to study for the exam. Needless to say, the 2016 exam was really hard!

Don't waste your money and buy the Princeton Review instead
Don't waste your money and buy the Princeton Review instead. This book covers far in excess of what is required for AP. My son wasted 2 hours covering a topic that was not even on the syllabus. Complete waste of money and misguides students when it should be helping them to enhance their skills and knowledge by focusing on subject matter that is relevant. It leaves students wondering what to study and risks lowering their performance in the exam.

Best Study Guide for AP Exams
These are hands down the best study guides for AP Exams. Comes with practice questions with the answers and explanations, as well as a practice exam. Paper is quite thin so make sure you use a highlighter that won't bleed if you plan to highlight. Didn't actually use the book because I contracted senioritis and got lazy, but if you don't have a severe procrastination habit like me, go for it.

Complete
The book arrived before the beginning of the expected delivery dates which was especially nice given that preparing for an exam doesn't but off too well... The questions may not be quite as representative of the college board ones as the 5 steps to a 5 book, but the review section is far more complete. For example the 5 steps to a 5 tells you that the understanding of the four quantum numbers is enrichment but isn't on the curriculum framework published by the college board. Well this book explains that allthough you're not expected to be able to write down the quantum numbers for a given electron, you are expected to understand their qualitative significance and be able to draw conclusions from a set of them, as well as recognizes what constitutes a possible set and what doesn't. I was surprised by the length of the book, and I find that they spend far more time than necissary walking you through steps that are fairly obvious and you probably already know inside out and backwards if you took an AP chemistry class, but I think it is still a great book to have because if you flip through it and read what you need you know you won't be missing anything they could possibly test you on on exam day! Plus there are more practice exams in it than most other prep books. That's why I got it in the first place actually.
