I enjoy The Repair Shop on TV, it's warm and witty and practical, and sometimes quite the tear-jerker. I bought this book because I wanted to know more about the lovely skilled people that work on other people's heirlooms and treasures; I wanted to discover how the project began in the first place; I thought it would at least tell us whether the public can bring items for refurbishment and repair, or whether it's for the TV programme only. I've also been wondering whether there is a charge, or whether these amazing people are volunteers. And disappointingly, I am none the wiser. The book is just about the items people bring in for repair; there is a bit about the customers, but no mention of the main stars of the show, no warmth, no joy, no reflection of the camaraderie they share. Just a list about things or stuff, which is interesting enough, but I'd rather know about the people, how they learned their amazing skills, and their experience that brought them to the Repair Shop. It's a disappointing, soul-less read.

If you love the show you'll love this book! Ideal for Christmas presents too. Enjoy.

Well what can I say.From the moment the postman pushed this through the door was filled with so much excitement. Actually I was buzzing like a bee.Rip Rip the parcel was open.The book was shinning like the North Star.And then I wrapped it up for my Mam for Christmas so... I have no idea what the book was like but ... I BET YOU it is absolutely amazing as the programme is.Merry Christmas everyone.

Love the book could do with more like it

If you like the Repair Shop TV programmes, you'll love this book. It's got all the stories from the TV but with more detail and it goes more into the background of the objects and how they came into peoples lives. There are loads of pictures, both colour and black and white, and a foreword by the presenter, Jay Blades.I can't really review this book with more detail because I won't be reading it - it's to be a Christmas gift but I'm sure the recipient, who is an avid viewer of the TV series, will absolutely love it. So, if you know someone who's a fan and you can't think what to buy them for Christmas or their birthday, get this, they'll love it!
