Lid too sloppy to be effective
Having bought a composter recently I wanted a small caddy to keep in the kitchen.I wanted one small enough to sit on the counter – check.I wanted a carrying handle – check.I wanted one that was easy to keep clean and preferrably dishwasher safe – check.I wanted a good, tight fitting lid – uh oh, I knew my luck would run out. It's a smart looking little thing, I'll give it that. It's easy to keep clean and light enough to carry out to the composter, however – and it's a Big However, the lid is sloppy and the contents prove just too tempting to fruit flies. I'm talking about those minscule things which swarm in hot weather and are so insubstantial they're impossible to swat. I've had to start putting the caddy outside the door which rather defeats the purpose of a Kitchen Compost Caddy.Addis, you need to redesign that lid – put a catch on it, or make the hinge stronger – just fix it, please!

I bought two of these. One for the council compost recycle scheme, and one for our own garden compost bin...as there are certain things we don't want in our on compost like citrus fruit and potato peelings as we grow our own and don't want disease put into our veg patch. I cannot fault them. They are just the right size with a good lid, the handle tucks neatly behind whilst they are sitting on the side and the liner comes out for putting in the dishwasher too. One person commented that the lid was wobbly and doesn't close properly. That is simply because the hinge assembly can lift slightly out of position, probably so that the lid can be pulled off altogether to go in the dishwasher. Another very neat idea.My husband struggled to get the liner out at first too, but there is a neat indentation at the front to get the finger tips underneath. It's all so very well thought out. I cannot recommend this item enough. Thank you Addis and Amazon

Looks great but small flies can get in.
Tiny flies can get in from the back as there is a small gap , say 2mm between the top and the lid. Not great in the summer when the doors and windows are open all the time.It always gets compliments for looks but it is not hygienic to allow flies in.It should have a better seal in my opinion.

Just what I was looking for
The council gives us big brown square caddies for food waste but it was too big for my worktop and I didn't like it on the floor. When I was looking for a replacement I picked this one because the Addis name is a trusted one in kitchenware. It appeared to me to be the right size. Some of the caddies seemed very small. We drink a lot of tea and coffee (grounds) in this house and they quickly fill the small tin I had for them. This caddy is big enough to hold the day's worth of tea/coffee and veg peelings. The council supply biodegradable bags to line the caddy and they fit in this well. When the caddy arrived I was happy with the look of it. It is a very sleek white plastic with a moss green liner which shows as a green stripe when the caddy is closed. It is a perfect size to sit beside my kettle and it easy to use with a lip that is big enough to nudge open and dispose of waste. The bio bags to leak a little as the contents are so wet but it is all well contained in the caddy. I can either carry the whole caddy out to the bin or remove the green liner and take that out. The green liner is easy rinsed and washed with the dishes. It is a smooth shiny plastic that washes very easily. The caddy normally just takes a wipe with a wet cloth to clean. The only small issue is the lid has a lip over the hinge which holds the green liner in. The lid needs to be opened wide to remove the liner unfortunately my husband failed to realise this and cracked one of the lid hinges forcing it. The caddy still works fine and looks great. All in all I am happy with my purchase as it does exactly what I wanted it to.

Good bins but food grows mould fast
I bought two of these for my kitchen counter; one to store compostable waste for our own compost bin and the other to store remaining organic waste for the council bin collection. They’re good bins, completely airtight so no smell gets out, and in summer no fruit flies can get in which is great. However, it means mould grows on the food inside very quickly, sometimes literally overnight the food can become covered in a thick layer of furry mould which is really unpleasant as there is suddenly so much of it. This happens moreso when compostable bags are used.Size wise, it’s impossible to get compostable bags that are small enough to fit the bins without excess plastic spilling over and it’s very wasteful too. We have realised that we actually should have got a bigger bin for compostable waste as a standard dinner with potato and veg peelings nearly fills the whole thing. A smaller bin for the rest of our organic waste would also have been better. The bins are easy to clean and the inside is removable which is handy to pop in the dishwasher.

A compact and attractive compost caddy
It's a little smaller than your standard London council provided food waste/compost box but it's certainly a lot more attractive than the brown boxes you typically get. It has a tasteful design and the internal compartment removes for easy cleaning. The best bit is that there aren't any corners on the internal compartment for grime to accumulate in and that are particularly hard to clean. Easy to wipe down down and a convenient carry handle that tucks behind without getting in the way (useful if you want to put it flush against a wall).Only minor issue is the smaller capacity, but that promotes more regular emptying. You can either put a compost liner bag in or use it without one.
