Pop-Up Earth (Pop-Up Series, 1)

bold and bright
Following Pop-Up Volcano! in this fun series, Pop-Up Earth grabs the reader's attention with large, bright, intricate pop-ups and then educates on topics ranging from volcanoes to biodiversity to the water cycle and beyond. Small text and slightly complex sentences make this a better one for me to read to T while he explores the illustrations. Because each page is not only self-contained, but also has several boxes with information, Pop-Up Earth is easy to pick up and explore at one's leisure – no need to read it straight through, or even read all of the two-page spread. We included the volcano and Earth's layers sections in our recent volcano unit.Pop-Up Earth invites the curious child to explore and learn. We're looking forward to reading Pop-Up Moon in our upcoming space unit. I'm interested to see where this whole series goes. It sure is a visually stunning one!

Interesting but short
Nothing much to add, yes my 8yrs son was amazed with the pop-ups which are really beautiful but... we expected some more, at least three... with the sun earth moon and planets movement, with the division of the different continents, with evolution of living...

Pop-up stays up
I liked the book, but once opened pop-up wouldn't fold back into book.

If you believe the world was form by “luck”, this is your book
I believe God formed our earth as the Bible states. Not by some big bang theory. Nothing in this book is what I would tell my grandchildren.

Disappointed
The pop ups were impressive but they didn’t give a clearer picture of the topics discussed. And, there weren’t that many of them in the book. The authors’ version of the origin of the universe was stated as fact rather than as theory. Money wasted.

Worth the cost
At almost $30, Pop-up Earth is kind of pricey. However, the intricate pop-ups warrant the price and really make the book special. From a 3D Earth and water ecosystem to the Earth’s core and a rainforest, these colorful structures make a big impact. My favorite pop-up is a literal house of cards that echoes the interconnectedness and fragility of biodiversity. This 20-page book offers an “every other” format where a pop-up spread is followed by a traditional 2D one. The 2D pages still offer intricate illustrations, and provide detailed text, too.
