Works great. I like that it is made from steel versus plastic. The door that opens is 14x14, the opening in the wall needs to be about 14 3/8 by 14 3/8. The flange around the outside is about 1 inch for a total dimension of 16x16. The door latch requires a flat screwdriver to operate and is really stiff to turn. As someone else said, there is no spring on the door, so once the latch is turned, you need to use your flat screwdriver to pop the door open. I wish the latch operated more easily, but I don't really care since I don't think I will need to get behind the door more than once every few years.

These are by far the best access doors I have run across. They fit perfectly (well, almost perfectly) between two 16"-on-center studs and provide the perfect size access door for electrical work. I am putting one of these above and below the main panel so I can easily run new wire when a new circuit is needed. What I really like about these doors is the high quality. I have seen a number of access doors made of plastic and they tend to look like crap. This is a very high quality metal/steal door and the movement on it is perfect if mounted correctly. Plastic doors look like crap -this one looks awesome. I also have to commend the very fast shipping on this item - it was not available Amazon Prime so I was skeptical it would arrive before the drywall work started and figured I would just have to go back and cut the whole later. but to my surprise the shipping was as fast as Prime and i was able to get these marked so the drywall could be cut at install time for easy mounting. Really love these - I will post some pics after the walls are painted and the access doors go back in for final mounting.

I liked everything about the door it’s sturdy it’s flash it looks good what you do need to do is add a knob to it

Just what was expected and working fine.

I used this to access electrical wiring that I eventually want to replace. I opened up the drywall to check in on the wiring and used this access door for permanent access. It fits perfectly between my ceiling joists and I like how much more sturdy this is than the butterfly clip style that only use tension to mount.

This is a kind of product they should not post "made in usa" like they are proud of the quality This is far from the word quality. The door lock is too bended so wont lock. You need to fix it yourself. The framing before the soldering was little off. So is not really flush. For this price range you expect quality. Is definitely not present

I've now purchased 3 of these. They seem to be reasonably high quality and do the job I need them to do. I'm using them to recess different things in a wood-framed, drywalled wall. The finished product is a good looking clean installation. This size fits nicely between standard 16" stud spacing. As a heads-up, 14" doors from a different manufacturer DO NOT fit with standard stud spacing. You'd think 14" would be universal, but it's not. These fit with about a 1/4" to spare on each side.

Very sturdy and well made. Got a similar product made in China and it was disappointingly flimsy and cheaply made. Go Canada!!

I paid $40 CAD for this door when I purchased it. It is a solid metal door. Opening is 14x14 (actually 14-1/8" for cutting the drywall. I wanted a door that required a tool (screw-driver) to open to prevent children from easily opening with the door and playing with the water supply valves for the shower. I read some reviews that people thought it a handle needed to be added to open the door. A found that a sharp thump with a closed fist closer to the hinge side of the door pops it open. This open-sesame act is a possible deterrent for a child too. Finally, some would be of the opinion that the door is ugly and needs to be 'hidden'. A coat of matching wall paint would be an option. However, this door is also hidden by bedroom furniture. Special care would be required when painting the door to prevent excess paint build-up on the door edge/frame becoming glue.
