Great for the price
This meter has all the functions and features one needs to measure light intensity. I bought this meter for my hydroponic strawberry garden so I could quantify results when growing at different light intensities and it does the job. The photo detector is on a removable automatic wind up, 18" long connection that docks with the meter. The meter also comes in a protective case. The LCD display has large numerals with a wide viewing angle. All nice features. Now if it just measured PPFD too....Note that I did not rate the accuracy because I have no way of confirming it. That said, the manufacturer's claimed accuracy is better than many other low cost light meters. And I have no clue on what a "Thickness" category is so didn't rate that..

Good for hydroponic systems.
I use this to adjust the lighting for my hydroponic garden. I was having a tip burn problem with my lettuces and measuring the light intensity let me adjust the lights and solve the problem. While I can’t comment on accuracy per se as I have no independent measurements to validate it, it’s accurate enough for my purposes. Price is reasonable and the removable sensor is nice so the screen is not under the bright lights where it would be difficult to read.

Great value
Great product for price, works great even with led lights. I would recommend to all for all grows and light levels.

Works very well as a relative-measurement tool for my video lighting setups...
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. The BT Lux Meter is not the first light meter I’ve owned. As I explain in my video, being a still photographer in high school, an Air Force Aerial and Ground Photo Specialist, and a freelancer much of my adult life, I used to use light meters to augment my still equipment. Only in the last couple decades have cameras included more sophisticated light metering capability. But when I'm working with lighting, its placement and light-strength on my subject has to be something I can repeat. Lighting can be reset, but it can't tell me just how much light is hitting my subject. That's where this device becomes necessary. My prime use for this meter is with my videography. In my video I do explain the value of ‘relative light measurement’ when doing a multi-light setup for a video. And when I’m trying to maintain a lighting effect such that I can repeat it at a later date, I’ll create a quick diagram of light placements, and mark the metered light value of each light in the setup. That way I can recreate my light arrays. This is doable because all of my LED equipment has either continuous-dimmer capability, or the lights have repeatable-step settings. The BT meter can give me light readings that don’t have to be accurate. They just have to be repeatable. This only requires that I use that same meter.I’m aware that many are using these LUX meters to measure lighting systems for plant-growing-projects. In that case a reasonably accurate light value is necessary to meet growing conditions. In my video work, once I set up lighting, and find it works, my need is to be able to repeat the setup days, weeks or months later. This is especially helpful when I’m adding segments to an existing video. I want each video to match the others in a series. So quantifying is important. And as long as my measurements can be repeated accurately, whether their values were or are actually accurate to national standards, I’m good to go.For being the most inexpensive meter in its class when I scanned Amazon, and because it met my expectations, I’m giving this device 5-stars.

Very interesting results
I'm trying to take better care of my houseplants and saw several plant-enthusiasts on instagram recommend using a light meter to get plants their proper light levels. I thought I knew what areas were brightest and where indirect light levels were appropriate but apparently I was wrong in so many cases. What this light meter is telling me really does make sense (now that I'm finally taking the time to really think about all the factors) so I do believe it's accurate. It made me rethink pretty much every plant position and now I will need to do some major rearranging. Apparently I had no idea what indirect light was and a lot of my poor plants were basically in a black hole. The one negative I can say is that the retracting mechanism to pull the sensor back into it's place doesn't work great and it's sort of a pain to try to get the cord back into the box. But I don't need to use that often (if at all) so it's not a big deal to me personally.Overall, I found this little meter so interesting and informative I am excited to switch things around and hopefully see my plants all doing better once they're in the right spots! Would recommend.
