My dog was scratching/licking/biting really badly, especially her stomach area. I bought this along with a special shampoo. After showering her, I applied this lotion on her stomach that was already red with a couple bumps from biting so much. By the next day, she hardly scratched or licked her stomach. I don't know if it was just the shampoo that helped but I do believe this lotion helped as well. It is very moisturizing on her skin and she liked me putting it on her. I think it's a little pricey but worth the relief for my dog. I like that the lotion is safe for her if she'd licks it and no smell to it.

Helping my cats skin after severe allergy outbreak
I am ordering more tonight so my only complaint is that it doesn't come in larger tubes. I can tell it is helping my cat's skin to heal. She got in black mold and had a severe skin reaction around her face, ears and in patches on her back. This has been the worse allergy problem she's ever had. She went to the vet and got a steroid shot and antibiotics but her skin was so tender and dried out she kept itching. The cream seems to soothe her and after four days we are finally starting to see improvement. I will definitely buy again.

Improved my dog's hot spots
My dog had a couple of spots near his tail that were losing hair and he seemed very itchy around that area. This ointment has improved the look of the skin and hair has started to grow back. I'd previously tried a couple of things without a lot of noticeable success, but this treatment made a visible difference within a few days. The spots were in an area that my dog could reach with his tongue, so I had to be careful to use something he could ingest if so inclined. This ointment says it has a steroid in it, making me hesitant to let him lick the spots. As a compromise, I applied it when I could sit with him for a while to keep him from the area and then gave him something to chew on as a distraction. The ointment absorbed fairly well right away and the spots were less red after a couple of applications. I used it for a week until I saw that there was new hair regrowth. The spots continue to look better each day even without the treatments. I'll be happy to have this ointment if (well, probably when) my dog needs it in the future.

Our vet approved and recommended this product.
Wasn’t able to clear this hot spot skin infection on its own, however the vet did read over the ingredients and did recommend I continue using the product with a combination of antibiotics, and anti itch injection, and washing the area daily with a medicated wash, THEN applying the Shikonidin to the affected areas. Have been doing this combination since seeing the vet 4 days ago and the inflammation and scabbing is so much better. Still pink and sore but she is no longer itching or licking the area and the ointment seems to give her some relief. Would definitely recommend for the small hot spots but if they’ve already gotten bad then definitely see your vet. Again our vet approved and recommended this product so that made me very happy and much more secure about using it. Wish it could’ve fixed the issue without a vet visit but some skin infections are just too much for over the counter treatments.

Helps as an extra treatment when RX alone won’t work
I have a cat that over grooms. She has been on steroids, allergy pills, and Prozac, but she continues to lick hot spots on her legs and belly. The vet told us to stop using one cream we had, but this one is fine for the cat. It does seem to help calm the area. When she is having a bad flare, she still needs steroids, but this works for smaller patches, and it doesn’t upset her stomach.

Seems to help!
It seems to be helping some. My dog has lost his fur on a large spot kind of by his back leg and it is dry and hard like alligator skin so I thought I'd see if this could help. It seems to be getting a bit better so far. Softening up a bit, so it isn't so dry and itchy for him.
