They work on hardwood floors. Haven't tried them on carpet but I'd assume they would work

will they work on a rubberized gym floor?

Yes they do Donna, but they really need to be broken in!! My studio has that type of floor as well

Are there straps to attach to the foot?

no, there are no straps. You don't really need them as the weight of your foot/body holds you on while you glide...at least it works for me on the carpet in my house. Good luck!
