Old fashioned, effective design
These gloves are a reproduction of the professional gloves that were available in the 70s. To my knowledge, these were the only cycling gloves one could buy in the U.S. in the 70s without some kind of specialized cyclist shop. I was such a renegade cyclist that I did not start using such gloves until the 90s. The pros:• backhand part of gloves is crocheted cotton mesh: keeps hands dry simply by the air running over the tops of your hands• palm-side part of gloves is well padded and after four hours of riding seems durable; I will report on durability later after more use; the reviewer who found the palms of his leather gloves wearing quickly might have got a defective pair, IMHO• they are not expensive; synthetic material gloves can be more expensive and less protective on one's hands in terms of paddingCons:• Like one other reviewer, I found the stitching (on the left glove) between ring finger and middle finger to be too closely sewn and it pinches. I ordered "large" because I am a man, I'm six feet tall, and have regular-sized hands. I don't have Frankenstein hands. I gave the large pair to a female friend, and I ordered the extra large which fit better.• I washed the gloves twice. The first time I carelessly let them dry in a slightly crumpled position: big mistake. I am now trying to break them in because the stitched leather between the fingers hardened like , well, dried leather. I put some Brooks saddle paraffin wax on the stitching which should help them break back in. I'm not sure how to wash leather, so the need to wash the gloves periodically might be a negative aspect. The stitching came apart on on three fingers of one glove after the second washing. I recommend washing them by hand. I am now ordering the same style made by different company. They are about 30% cheaper. We'll see.• Some cyclists might consider such retro crocheted gloves to be a fashion faux pas; I do not because I ride a 1980, 21-speed bicycle hand-forged from Reynolds chromium molybdenum steel by the Woodrup Bicycle shop in Leeds, England, and I ride around a college town with one pannier. A 2019 Mr. Chips would find these gloves tip top.

Great gloves, very comfortable
I tried a few different padded gloves from Amazon, but wasn't happy with any of them, until I bought these. Very comfortable, and absorb the shocks from riding. I've been wearing these for years now. My only complaint is that the finger holes are a little bit small, and I almost returned them because of it. But they stretch out a bit as you wear them. But then again, I have fat fingers, so maybe that's it.

Great RETRO gloves with one small problem
I absolutely LOVE the fact that someone was thoughtful enough to revive the Spenco gloves of the 70's. I have carpal tunnel, so my hands get numb after a short time while riding my motorcycle. My last pair of Spenco gloves I wore beyond being "worn out" (now they hang on the wall of my shop). I ordered 2 pair of these gloves and am satisfied with the great therapy effects of the Spencos of days past (no numb hands even after hours of riding). I have only ONE small problem (could be quality control? Who knows in Pakistan), the sewing between the mesh back and the leather palm unraveled on several fingers on the first pair I wore. I'll sew it back together rather than send them back, but it cost the seller one star for the quality issue. I'll buy again when (IF) I live long enough to wear these 2 pair out.

True to Size
I love these gloves - the crocheted backs make them a lot cooler than other biking gloves, the padding eases the pain at pressure points, and the sizes are pretty much true to the dimensions given. The only issue I have with them is that I have very small wrists so it is difficult to tighten the velcro at the wrist. This is not a criticism of the gloves as I suspect my situation is unusual and it's not critical that the velcro be closed when wearing them.

Good Gloves But…
OK gloves that initially reduced may hand fatigue and numbness some. I liked them as they're one of the few gloves I've found that offer nice padding across the heel of the hand. As others have noted, they can fit tight around some fingers and cut into your hand between the fingers, but that has gone away with break-in.My biggest issue with these gloves is the "gel" padding in the palms. My concept of gel padding is that it retains its shape and provides constant shock absorption. However, the padding in these gloves, whatever its composition, bunched up behind the pressure points on my hands and stayed that way after less than 200 miles of ride time, even with frequent hand position changes. If the padding is indeed "gel" there's either not enough of it or it was sewn in with too much extra space in the gel pocket. All that said, these gloves were more comfortable than some of the other brand name, higher priced gloves I've tried. That is, until the padding bunched and no longer offered much shock absorption. My advice? Think about your hands' pressure points before purchasing these gloves.

Finally B I G gloves
I have large thick hands. Bike gloves, mostly from China, are way too tight -- even XL are for little girl hands. I tried several pairs and finally found these lovely LARGE gloves. They actually fit, wide comfortable gloves with significant padding. The retro weave for the back of the hands reminds me of the 1970-80s style gloves (for those of us biking that long ago). It is such a pleasure to put on gloves and like them. Only had them a month, so no clue on longevity -- but even if they are thrashed in a year, I will buy another pair.
