Quiet and reliable
I’ve purchase many of these drives and they’re now my go-to external drive. I’m very happy with its performance. I’m a photographer and have lots of large files stored on these drives that I access through my laptop and the speed and connection works great.

Perfect for the backup jobs I need
Well made product. Good performance. I did a full 2 pass erase before using it to stress test it and exercise all sectors. It's performing flawlessly on my system. I got it over competitors because of the good LaCie warranty. The only thing I was disappointed about was that it came from Amazon in the manufacturer's box. If it's sitting on my porch I would rather not advertise what it is.

A Fine USB3 HD For Backup
I purchased this HD because I wanted a fast and reliable HD for backing up a large QNAP NAS. The HD in the Lacie d2 is an Enterprise Seagate Ironwolf Pro HD which is used in many NAS units and carries a 5 year warranty. The Lacie d2 at 16 TB is the largest single external HD that one can purchase today that is a 7200 rpm enterprise HD. It is reasonably priced for what it does and I have experienced no problems setting up and using the Lacie d2.

It's Great So far, but the BLUE LIGHT IS FREAKING BRIGHT!
I'm not joking... this like is so bright.. Even when the lights are on, this thing is flashing so hard that it kind of blinds you from your peripheral vision. It could probably be used as an emergency beacon if you were trying to alert rescue planes. And at night-- forget about it.. it literally lights up my entire bedroom like a dance hall. No way you're falling asleep with this thing on. Even in your office it will be annoying.

Great drive, and should be, because it costs more than competitive drives
If you want a solidly built external drive that is fast and reliable, then this is your drive.Note that it has a bright blue light. It is the brightest light I have ever had on any computer equipment. This might be an issue for some folks. The light communicates the following:-- Solid light: drive is connected and powered on. It is idle.-- Blinking light: the drive is busy (reading and/or writing data).-- Very slow blinking: the drive is powered on, but disconnected. This will happen, for example, if you tell Windows to disconnect the drive. The light doubles as a power button. It takes some effort to press it in. But it is a button. So if the drive becomes unresponsive, and you need to power cycle it, you do not need to pull the plug. You can press the blue lit button. Note that you have to press and hold it for a few seconds to make it power off (this prevents accidental power loss to the drive if someone mistakenly presses the button).

Easy to use
I have use the LaCie drives for years. Nice combination of price for the amount of memory and ease of use.
