U-N-T-A-N-G-L-I-N-G THE CONFUSION.... Made in China
Ok. After reading the reviews I wasn't sure what to do. Like many others I am SICK of the cheap expensive red plastic gas cans with the terrible snouts that don't work. So I headed to the reviews about this Justrite 2 gal can. I didn't need a big 5 gal size, and this 2 gal was right for me...manageable & not heavy when filled with gasoline. At the time I bought this, there were only two reviews. One was 5 star, the other 1 star. How do you decide from two extreme positions??I agree with the 1 star rating reviewer as I do NOT want to buy a China product and get a substandard product. Shoot, I do not even want to buy from china period because I would rather support other USA citizens with my loyalty and money. But there are two things that 1 star review brought up: 1. China made means usually a Substandard product. Unfortunately I cannot find any fault or cheapness in this can. It's tough, well made, powder coating paint is great and the gas seals are flawless. 2. The reviewer claimed the ad description claims to say the can is made in USA. I looked carefully and maybe they changed the description in the fews months when he did his review, but I do NOT see a claim of USA made. Instead, I do see the statement..."The company, founded in 1906, is headquartered in Des Plaines, IL." In other words, an American company Justrite outsourced this 2gal blue can to China and didn't tell us made in China,... nor did they say made in USA either. They just got us thinking USA.I do think that every product should have a country of origin so we know as consumers where it was made. I do think this can's description is misleading to tout the company being US based almost as if implying this can is made in the US then not really saying but just implying it. That is marketing misdirection... and a form of deception. This happens a lot these days & I have to read things very carefully to pin down country of manufacture and not just look where the company headquarters are located. Fortunately we can still share our reviews freely with each other,...but for how long I wonder. So bottom line, I have to give it 5 stars. Built like a tank. Given the cheap labor in China this can would be more fairly priced about 30$ for this 2 gal size. But @ 56 & free ship it's actually priced MORE than the larger Justrite 5 gal size I just bot from amazon.com.One last note: Amazon gave 5-6 diff vendors offering this item. But I intentionally bot from Amazon.com & not one of the competing vendors. Sometimes outside vendors are hard to deal with in case of return (as other reviewers of similar cans indicated) so I bot from in-house Amazon for best customer service.BOTT LINE: great can, convenient size, strong spring loaded fill cap opens 3/4 (safety feature). I just temporarily block it open with a wooden wedge if I need to keep it open for filling. Top quality, easy pour, high price, yes made in China. EARNS 5-STARS.

Only Way To Safely Store Gasoline (IMHO)
UPDATE 12/30/2022: Have had this can and a smaller DOT "over-the-road" transport rated can for over 6 years now and I love them. Have had no issues at all. This is a lifetime product.ORIGINAL REVIEW: I, like many people who store gasoline, had used those cheap plastic containers for years and have never felt safe with them. You may have heard the stories about how they can supposedly split under pressure or even explode since they have no spark arrestors in the spout. And the plastic IS porous allowing evaporation into the atmosphere over time. Read the forum comments on the later model C.A.R.B. approved cans. They leak gas when trying to use them and are just hard to use without spills--that doesn't help the environment nor make them safer to use. With the plastic jugs, I just was not comfortable having these things in my attached garage knowing they would truly fuel any fire once the plastic container melted.I had first hand experience with the benefit of a metal container when I received news that my beloved street motorcycle (with a full tank of gas) had burned in a garage fire. When I inspected the charred remains of the frame and engine, to my surprise, the steel gas tank was STILL full of gas! Some of the aluminum pieces on the bike had melted and were laying in solidified puddles below the bike. But the tank was still intact. This had been a hot fire. But NO explosion or further fueling of the fire. Why? I've been told there is very little oxygen in a properly sealed gas container--the other component required for fire (or an explosion).I had done my research looking at various metal gasoline can manufacturer's products and reading user comments. In my opinion, the Justrite safety can seemed to have the edge over its competitors with their safety features. There are the built-in filler and spout flame arrestors, and the AccuFlow feature that allows you to CONTROL the flow into any gas tank with the handle valve. It just seems to have all of the right components for a safety gas can besides being a strong robust container. They are designed to seal and prevent vapor loss, but also safely vent in a fire instead of bursting under the pressure of expanding vapor and fuel.Yes, the cost of this model is three times the price of a plastic can, but what price do you place on safety? When I considered the cost to rebuild a home, or tragically that of a life, the decision was easy for me. They should last for many years and the company offers replacement parts if needed. In practice, a metal can is going to add some additional weight when lifting. Slight folks, beware of this when choosing larger size cans. But on the plus side, it does easily dispense gasoline into my lawnmower and generator without spills (you may see a few drops drain from the spout however). Now when entering the garage I no longer smell gas fumes with these sealed cans. Build quality, materials and craftsmanship seem to be excellent. I can fully recommend the product.**UPDATE 12/30/2022: Have had this can and a smaller

This is the most amazing gas can I have ever seen in my life.
This gas can is a piece of art, it is amazing in every way! The manufacturers went to great detail in making a safe can for any storage need. I thought it looked great but it IS great!

Fuel lasts longer
Much nicer to use than the 2.5 for some reason. Plastic is horrible unless you plan on using the fuel immediately. These are the BEST
