It is a wonderful crimper. I used hole #3 (the next-to-largest hole) and it was very easy and smooth to crimp an aluminum sleeve. I could probably have done the job with a pair of vise grips, but I am glad I bought this crimper instead. As you can see from my photo, I am still learning how to position the sleeve in the die to get two nicely-spaced crimps. For a first try I am delighted. Review: Good value for the money, well built - This was a good value and worked well. It comes with an instruction sheet explaining what size hole should be used with the diameter of the steel cable you want to swag. This model does not have a wire cutter. The number setting on the dials are printed on the rotatable dials that correspond to the holes and diameter of cable you want to swag. If you forget, the guides are printed on the arms of the tool itself. This tool has decent weight and has a solid feel to it. Mine came with a default dial setting on #1. For my 1/8" steel rope I changed the dial setting to #4. If you use vinyl coated steel rope you must cut off the vinyl coating before swaging your cable, otherwise the vinyl will just compress and you won't get a tight crimp. To change the dial setting mine had 3/8" nylocks, not metric. Flip the tool over and loosen the nylocks and push the dial button out which allows you to rotate the dial to the number setting that corresponds the diameter of steel cable you're using. After you dial in the correct number, push the dial back into place and tighten the nylock back up. The handles have semi-soft grips. It says 1/16" to 1/8" but is that the size of the sleeve or the cable?** A: Standard sizing practice. 1/8 refers to 1/8 inch crimps, sleeves, wire rope. I.E. all 1/8 inch accessories and consumables. The sleeves themselves are way bigger than 1/8" in dementions. So it cannot be referring to the sleeves. **Q: Will this crimp 3/32?** A: Yes, this tool can crimp 3/32", you can use second hole to crimp it. **Q: Need to crimp 3/32 control cable nicopress ferrules for an ultralight aircraft. Has anyone used for this purpose ?** A: I haven't used it for aircraft cabling. Only anticipated for gazebo wire runs.
