I had seen some clips of Svetlana Lunkina's Giselle. One year ago this DVD was not available in the US. I left a comment on amazon.uk. When this DVD is published with DVD region code 1, I just simply bought it. I love Svetlana Lunkina's Giselle very much. She is a natural and light dancer. She continues Ulanova's tradition to dance as a pure, innocent and light Giselle. She is the best Giselle after Galina Ulanova, Ekaterina Maximova (Bolshoi Ballet). Hope this great tradition can go on forever. In Act II Svetlana Lunkina's technique and performance is almost perfect. She is like a piece of cloud, even lighter than Alina Cojocaru. Her dancing is not to jump high, but only move as air flowing. A Beautiful Giselle!

This is the other ballet that I bought to see what Giselle is about and to compare it with the other one that I bought. Again these dancers are excellent---they get paid for being good. In my older dance class, we are there because we want to challenge our bodies.

Excellent interpretation, but a little distorted on my screen. Probably not the fault of the disc. Delivery so quick, it caught me by surprise. Thank you.

Nice ballet performance

So glad I finally got to see this ballet. I enjoyed it, though I have nothing to compare it to.

I just have to agree with the other reviews written to date. I have six or seven versions of Giselle and this one rates high on the list of favorites for all the reasons cited by others. One to add to the library.

I wanted to enjoy this but I could not get through ten minutes after seeing one of the dancers in black face. Immediately tried to find a way to report this video but I don’t see an option other than writing a review.... This should be removed from prime video.

The choreography, music, sets and dancing were all fine, but it can't begin to compare with the production by the Dutch National Ballet in 2009, I believe. What ruined the performance for me was the idiotic audience that constantly interrupted the dancing with what can only be called a smattering of applause. They weren't even civilized enough to wait for the end of the particular dance. It was maddening.

Selon moi la meilleure version de ce ballet.Giselle est un ballet très difficile à danser pour les ballerines du fait de la différence d'ambiance entre les deux actes : joyeux et coloré dans le premier, la scène de la folie de Giselle à la fin, et onirique et sombre - voir cruel - dans le deuxième.Svetlana Lunkina réussit le tour de force de parfaitement incarner les deux facettes de Giselle : une jeune paysanne heureuse qui découvre l'amour et qui sombre dans la folie devant la trahison de son amant, une Wilis grave et aérienne qui semble flotter au dessus du sol.On dit que le rôle de Giselle est "le" rôle de Svetlana Lunkina, ce ballet confirme. On a un réel sentiment d'irréalité en regardant le second acte, tant Svetlana Lunkina y est légère, aérienne, presque désincarnée, tout en y accomplissant des prouesses techniques sans donner l'impression de faire le moindre effort. Une telle virtuosité nous emporte hors du monde.S'il ne faut avoir qu'une version de ce ballet, c'est celle-là qu'il faut choisir.

Je n'ai jamais reçu cet article. Il aurait été déposé dans un centre de stockage en banlieue sans que le livreur n'ait même pas pris la peine de laisser un avis de passage. Je ne le recommande donc pas

ボリショイバレエのバヤデールです。主演はナデジダ・グラチョーワとアレクサンドルヴェトロフ。グラチョーワは手足が長くスタイルのいい美しいダンサーで踊りもとてもすばらしかったです。感情表現もとても豊かで踊りも長い手足を存分につかったしなやかな踊りでした。脚が非常に美しかったです。跳躍もジュテはしっかり開脚していましたし。影の王国でも踊りが固くなく、安定していてよかったと思います。丁寧な踊りでした。ガムザッティも好演。マリア・ブイロワが出演しています。画面ですが暗いです。が、踊りはきちんと見えます。影の王国の最初のコールドなど部分的に見え難い部分なども多いのですがその他はよく撮れている方だと思います。遠目の映像が少ないのでみやすいと思いました。ちょっと影の王国は青白すぎるような気もしますが・・　ボリショイ、グリゴローヴィチ版です。グリゴローヴィチ版の特徴は結婚式に新たにソロルのヴァリエーションが振付けられている点（普通結婚式で踊るソロルのヴァリエーションは影の王国の場面で踊られる）、スピーディーな展開とドラマ性の強調、また影の王国の後に一場あり短いながらエピローグとしてまとめられています。結婚式の華やかさが他の版に比べるとより強調されていてよかったと思います。壷をのせた侍女達の踊り、太鼓の踊り、ブロンズアイドルの踊りも楽しめます。

古典に忠実な作品です。ニキアとガムザッティのふたりのプリマがとにかくすばらしいです。二人とも手足の形や長さも良いし、ジュテが高く長く、バロンが決まっています。回転もすばらしく速いです。ニキアは悲しい顔をしながらスーパーテクを連発してくれます。オペラ座のヌレエフ版も見ましたが、ボリショイの方がプリマがダントツに良かったです。またロシアで撮影されたらしいのですが、珍しく画質が良く、ダンサー顔のアップが何箇所もありました。超お勧めです。
