STEELMASTER Cookbook Safe with High-Security Lock and 2 Keys (221269206)

Most of these secret books are dictionaries, a foolish strategy in my opinion because a dictionary is commonly used. A cookbook is a brilliant cover, with a stylish and appropriate design, and a topic that is normal but not very interesting. It's even better since I actually cook. I love it, it's a good update to the typical book-safe. I doubt it's very secure, especially because it can be snatched as it's not heavy and very portable. But...It's not supposed to be heavy and impenetrable; it's supposed to blend it naturally - as it certainly does. A recommended buy at a good price. (Please note that this review is both objective and subjective, obviously.) Thank you!

Great little safe, I suggest you mix it in with other books on a bookshelf as it has plastic "pages", which is required in order to make the safe secure.. I have three of these (different designs), and love them. No more worries about someone snooping into my private papers. Good to hide medications in also to keep the kids out of them.

As others have said, the printing on the spine does not show up. Seems well made.

Would recommend. Inconspicuous. Not heavy duty.

The spine looks like brown packing tape. Stands out. Shiny exterior. Looks ‘ok’ on the flat. Looks LAME in the bookshelf.

The safe worked well. However, I never got to use it.

Bought this since I assumed it would blend in the several cookbooks I have on a bookshelf. That part may have been true if the spine resembled a book, but it doesn't. The lettering, if you want to call it that, is so light it is not visible. I could live with that, but the haphazard construction quality ruins any concealment factor this may have had. The glue on the side holding the spine to the metal safe had come loose and will no longer stick at all. Guess I'll have to buy some double sided tape for that. Not only that, the back of the book was glued crooked on to the metal safe. In short, it's falling apart right out of the cellophane wrapping it came in. One good point -- the metal safe seems solidly constructed and it may do its job even without the book casing. If you're looking for a better concealed safe and don't necessarily need a book style, look up the Yuban coffee can safe. It'll hold cash and jewelry just the same, will blend in with other coffee products you have and will probably last longer.

This is a well-made product and looks like a real book stacked with other cookbooks. The only negative is that the picture in the listing shows black lettering on the spine. The safe I received has white lettering which is barely readable, so the spine looks plain beige when on the bookshelf.
