My favorite hat
Perfect for my needs, everyday use for outside activities such as gardening, beach, hiking, etc. Seems well constructed. Very light weight, retains shape even when crushed or getting wet, and good ventilation, all that I was looking for in an everyday summer hat at a reasonable price. Received one of these Boonie hats as a gift several years ago but recently lost it on a trip. It was still in good condition after several years of use. Glad I found this one and would recommend to others.

Size to fit
Product is light and breathable (which is what I was looking for), however the medium size was to small. I will exchange for large as it was just what I was looking for the beach.

good lookin' nice quality but be careful with size
The hat looks great, the quality is good. But I chose the wrong size. A bit small for comfort. I think if I took a half size more, it would be very comfortable. So be careful when choosing the size.

Adjustable
A draw strap around the rim makes hat adjustable. Also provides some stick-on inserts if too big.

Right size & feel!
Very comfortable hat. The brim is more structural than some other hats I've had. That is in a good way that it holds its shape. At the same time, I plan to jump straight into the ocean with it and not worry about it. The price point makes that possible! Good hat for the dollar! dp

Nice hat, couple things to note, and khaki won't get you khaki
I ordered this to replace the Columbia Bora Bora Booney (original version, not the new one) I misplaced sometime last year and I looked at the new Bora Bora Booney 2 from Columbia. Since this is constructed very very similarly to that hat and I would call them directly competitive hats, I'll compare them. This one has a full mesh around the head (new Columbia doesn't fully circle the head) and with a taller mesh than the original Columbia which I wanted for even better cooling. The brim is floppy and develops a wavy shape because of its lightweight construction which can be annoying if the wave dips down to partially block your view. Because it is so flexible it folds or rolls up quite well to stuff in small place in your pack and weighs almost nothing (2.8oz/80g) compared to more solid hats with a firmer brim. By the way, the new Columbia seems to have a different brim that is a bit smoother and seems more rigid than the original or this one. I have a large head so ordered the X-Large which fits a little loose and is perfect. I can have the hat sit low and loose when the sun is low, or low and snug on windy days, or I can tighten it up and let it sit higher in the middle of the day with no wind.I haven't tried this one in the rain yet, which sounds weird for a summer hat but I hike a lot and encounter random cloudbursts all the time in the mountains, on Maui, etc. I expect it to work similar to the Bora Bora which was surprisingly good at keeping your head mostly dry, although the rain would soak into the brim after a while and force the floppy brim down even more and of course some would get through the mesh. I'm going to spray some silicone water repellent on this one to see if that helps the brim part.As for the Khaki color, when I click on "Khaki" it resulted in "light olive" in my shopping cart (X-Large, shipped and sold by Amazon) and I received a medium green hat delivered to my door. The hat has a tag that says "MC2-kaki4", so something is not right there. Dorfman Pacific shows this in a tan-like khaki color according to their web site and they have a Fossil color shown which is definitely the green hat I received, so they have a problem with color names matching the actual hat as well. I have written them about the issue.

Good lookin', comfortable & ventilated!
Becoming more aware of sun damage to my skin over the years, I've been wearing over sized floppy hats for maximum protection to my dome, face & neck. It was time to get a new one. Bought this Dorfman Pacific Boonie primarily for the 1 1/2" wide strip of mesh to help keep me cooler while doing yard work in the South Texas heat. The mesh strip provides great ventilation to keep from over heating and fogging up your safety glasses.I read the reviews, most customers warned about the undersized hat and to go larger than you normally would. Wasn't sure how the hat size broke down, and didn't see any kind of size conversion chart on the page for the hat, so I guessed XL. I guessed wrong. Needed to return the hat for a smaller size, Amazon sent me a L that showed up on my doorstep in a couple of days. For what it's worth, my hard-hat webbing claims my headband is set at 7 3/8. If you know your hat size is more or less than 7 3/8, judge accordingly.Immediately after it arrived, I took it along for a trip to the market on a windy day. I thought it would be going airborne as soon as I got out of the car, so I cinched to adjustable nylon chord to adjust the hat size a little snug, and it worked perfectly. Very comfortable, good looking hat. Not only that, I was quickly convinced the ventilating mesh will be a major benefit during the hot days ahead. I could feel the wind whipping through the mesh keeping my melon cool. Just as if I bitten into a York Peppermint Patty, for goodness sake. The bill is just under 3" wide, size adjustments are quick & easy; most importantly the hat looks much better in person than it does looking at it on Amazon.com. Can't mention it enough, instead of having a couple of grommet holes to keep you cool, the mesh is a fantastic idea that actually works better than advertised. Glad I bought one, you will be too. 5 stars.

second Dorfman hat
First lasted for years but got floppy, very happy with the new one.Lightweight, great for surviving sun without slathering sunscreen, wide enough brim. Packable — great for travels
