Intense installation, thorough instructions
I got this for my 13 year old son. He is still working on completing it, so hopefully it will look awesome all done. He has been a little frustrated at times, he has had to carefully disassemble his firehouse to wire everything. Instructions are great, though, and when he gets overwhelmed he takes a break and goes back later with no issue. We are looking forward to a really awesome finished product!

Poorly designed. Started melting into my bricks.
After dumping countless hours of meticulously putting this together, I plug it in and only half of it lit up. I carefully went through every single step several times to make sure every pin is straight. This is why it's wise to start with the power supply when designing sets like this. You should be able to see the lights on as you're working on them to adjust correctly. The instructing are designed to plug in the power supply at the very end.I left it on for a few hours while adjusting it, and noticed the receiver board started melting the bricks around it. The wiring melted into the board.I'm also not pleased with their method of hiding the wiring. You really need a file and a drill to make the bricks fit back correctly.

OK, so it took a little while to figure out how to install it… But the end product is pretty amazing!

Long read but worth the info if you plan to buy!
This set was certainly a challenge. I managed to get it installed over a few days off with about 20 hours of work into it. I used small files and a 1/8 drill to make holes where needed to make it fit better and cleaner than the instructions. I used the LED’s that were meant for the exterior ghosts elsewhere, because I liked my ideas better and adapted my ideas to fit the wiring scheme. You’ll see in the photos that I used them to make the 3rd floor computer light up green, used one to illuminate the Stay-Puft video game in blue and then used one to light up the pink slime on the second floor table. It came out absolutely stunning. That being said, I have some complaints. The remote system is buggy. I can turn on all the soft white lights individually and turn them off. But as soon as you turn all on together with the brighter LED’s the remote loses connection and won’t work. Must unplug the system to reset it. It’s also set by default to the off position. So needless to say, get everything done and only the colored LED’s worked... The remote doesn’t come with a battery either so you can’t turn it on until you get the CR2025 battery. Got the battery and it worked as described above. Also, this is not an easy instal by any means, if you want it to look good at the end. If you have big hands and fingers like me, you need patience! But, just like my Ecto-1 set, if you take your time, you’ll be rewarded with a show piece!

Absolutely horrible instructions! Unbelievably horrible to be honest.
The instructions for this kit are abysmal. I don't even know how to put it into words. I started to take pictures but quickly realized that without the context of the whole manual it really wouldn't say much. So I'll try to verbalize it instead. My wife was extremely excited that I got her the Ghostbusters Firehouse for Christmas since it is a retired set. She was equally excited when she saw I got the light kit to accompany it. She thoroughly and absolutely every step of assembling the kit itself! Now bring in the light kit. (mind you, this is not the first light kit she's installed). About 10 steps into the manual she was super frustrated and just put everything away for the evening. She breaks it out the next evening and quickly realizes that the process of putting the lights on was going to be insanely frustrating. Not due to the quality of the kit itself, but the impossible to follow manual. Luckily between her and I and our experience with Lego and other light kits we were eventually able to figure it out, but at the end she said that installing this kit all but ruined the experience of the Firehouse. Now, the only reason I gave this a 2 is because once it's all said and done, it looks great! But it's the process of getting there that is beyond frustrating so otherwise it would have been a 1. Certainly won't use this manufacture again. There are plenty of other options out there where they don't have a 5 year old writing their instructions.

Looks great but not easy to do
After my daughter demolished my Lego GB Firehouse a while back, I decided to add some lighting as part of the rebuild to make it really stand out. Came across this kit at a very reasonable price and went for it.The kit really does add a great look to the kit - in the dark with this lighting kit on the firehouse looks incredible. I especially like the real-flickering fire now, and the lighting pouring through the windows. It's nice that you can turn on and off various light sets through the remote too. I wouldn't get lighting kits for all my lego, but it's certainly a nice-have on this one.It is not easy to assemble though - I needed to use some needle-nose tweezers, a heavy-duty lamp and a set magnifying glasses to really see what I was doing (luckily I already had these from my miniature painting). The instructions could be a bit clearer - I managed to muddle through but there are times (especially later on when working between the floors) you can't tell if the wire is supposed to be connected to the junction box or fed through to the next floor - I worked it out in the end but nearly ran out of connection cables so obviously something went wrong somewhere. My only other gripe is the remote is intermittent - it turns on the lights absolutely fine but then it's 50/50 whether the other features work or not (even straight after using it to turn the lights on) - fresh battery, same place/distance, etc - it's like when the lights are on, they are interfering with the infra-red or something.Overall pleased but not something I would want to setup often.

Power pack and remote faulty
Looks great when it works. The power pack and remote where faulty. Remote would not work. We hooked it up with the USB plug to a portable power pack and the lights all worked but not with the one supplied. Contacted support and they are to be sending replacements. Will update review once new product arrives and works as it should.
