Strong Volt Customer Service is Top Notch
I originally purchased the StrongVolt 3. This one appears to be a great bargain as it is the least expensive of the 4 they carry. The reviews you are reading right now are for all the models, so it is important to read the review carefully to know which item is being discussed. Nuff said on that. When I plugged in my least expensive StrongVolt 3 (3 amps) it did not charge my small android phone to my satisfaction. Results were not good. I opened a return procedure with Amazon and I wrote a review explaining my problems with the product. I received a call and an email in less than a day from StrongVolt. They immediately refunded me. I had just shipped it back the same day. Then the following day I received a StrongVolt 7. This was unexpected and very nice. I plugged in my phone and the charge percentage literally went up before my eyes. Also unlike the 3 watt model, this one is completely silent as it charges. Ahhhh much better! This is a much stronger charger and worth the cost.So in summary I recommend the 7 watt model. I can say the 3 didn't work for me. The 5 might be okay. And the 10 is probably good for the big tablets and what not.Good luck and happy charging.

Good for emergencies
Got this charger and tried it out under exceptional conditions (75 degree, not a single cloud in the sky). I tested the output of the charger and got a consistent 4.45 watts (5v X .89 amps = 4.45 watts). When i connect my samsung galaxy s3 into a receptacle it draws 4.1 watts. However, once you connect the phone to the solar charger, the 4.45 watts obviously drops from the load of the battery. It took me 5 hours and 20 minutes to charger the phone from 47% to 100% (this is with the phone powered on but screen off, not running any apps). I will do a test with the phone powered off and battery at 0% and report the exact charge time. So, this charger will charge your USB devices but its extremely slow (just as i expected, so i got what i thought i would). When i get the spare money and the time (and ideal weather, which is plentiful in the Houston spring weather) i will buy and test the following chargers :EasyAcc solar charger panel pack bag for EasyAcc Anker External Battery, Bluetooth Speaker, iPod,Android Smartphone:HTC ONE,Samsung Galaxy S3,Blackberry Z10,Nokia Lumia 920, Mobile DVD,Bluetooth headset and more devicesInstapark® 10 Watt Solar Panel Portable Solar Charger with Dual USB Ports for iPhone, iPad & all other USB Compatible DevicesPoweradd™ 7W Foldable Solar Panel Portable Solar Charger for iphone, iPad, iPod, Samsung Galaxy Series Phones and Tablets, Other Android Phones, Touch Screen Tablets, GPS, eReaders, Bluetooth Speakers, Gopro Cameras and Many Other 5V USB-Charged D...Allpowers Portable 7W Folding Power Solar Panel Charger External USB Battery Charger Battery Pack Backup for iPhone, iPad Samsung, LG, ipad, PDA Mp4 Mp5 & many other USB Compatible DevicesReVIVE ReStore RA4 Universal 14-watt Folding Solar Charger w/ Dual USB Ports , Ultra-slim Panels & Carrying Strap- Quickly Charges Smartphones , Tablets , GPS Units & more Devices! *Includes Protective Rain Cover*I expect all of these chargers will have a very similar output but i will still test and report.

college life usage
I got this product to try and use it for college life, however my problem with it that it was unable to charge my iphone through the window of my room, it has to be directly in the sun (duh). so I have to leave it outside to charge, hence this being used for hiking, but I do not have the time to just leave it charging outside with my phone. so it doesn't really suit my needs.

Doesn't do what I wanted it to do
I was hoping to be able to go outside and read on my Kindle Fire or listen to music on my iPhone without draining my battery. First I got an error when I tried to charge my phone. I finally got it to charge some but I kept getting errors every few minutes and had to babysit it the entire time. When I tried it with my Kindle it didn't charge while I was reading. This device might be ok in an emergency but I would not recommend it.

Good for cellphone
Short amount of sun we have had I was able to see that it was charging. But it is not strong enough for IPad. Got no charge for that. Think you would need to get 7 to work for that. Great to have for hurricane season. Drove around with it sitting on dash and charged as I drove.

Great for kayaking!
It does what it is supposed to. One note though, I needs to be in FULL SUN, to work. Only reason it got 4 instead of 5 is because it did not work with my iPod touch. The iPod threw a message saying "Incompatible device". Other than that, it worked great for my Galaxy S3.UPDATE 4/27/14: I have taken this unit out several times now on my "mini-vacations" on the Little Miami river and it has worked great! I modified a dry box to run a phone charger into it and sealed it with silicone so I could charge my phone while out on the rivers and lakes. Charges my Galaxy S3 with no issues even when the sunlight isn't in full tilt. It does take a little while to charge to 100% but it keeps the phone charged and does what it is supposed to. I got a comment saying that the ipod displaying "incompatible device" doesn't necessarily mean it isn't charging. I will give it another try and see if it charges and update this review again when I do.
