under no circumstances you should buy this card at that price. They bought it at retail.price ,yet still want to make killing. The RRP is already gauged and too high, wait for better supply, shouldn't take that long as the crypto WILL crash.

Why is the cost almost £1000 more than the price on website

Scalpers and Bitcoin Miners, luckily nvidia and creating a more agile mining only card soon so the supply of the retail cards will hopefully get back to normal. I certainly will not be in the market for 2nd hand 3080/3090 cards though as you will never know if they have been involved in mining, if so it slows them down and wears them out.
