Reliable, Affordable Upgrade for Everyday Storage Needs
Reliable, Affordable Upgrade for Everyday Storage Needs This PNY CS900 2TB SSD turned out to be a straightforward and satisfying upgrade. Installation was quick—just a standard 2.5" SATA connection—and the drive was recognized immediately without any hassle. For general use, it’s a night-and-day improvement compared to an old spinning hard drive. Boot times are nearly instant, programs open faster, and overall system responsiveness feels much snappier. The 2TB capacity is a sweet spot for those who want a roomy but reasonably priced drive. It’s plenty for storing a mix of games, videos, photos, and work files without worrying about space. Performance is solid and consistent; while it doesn’t reach the speeds of NVMe drives, for most desktops and laptops that still rely on SATA, this is more than enough. I also noticed that it runs cool and quiet, with no issues under heavy file transfers. One thing to keep in mind is that this is more of a budget SSD—so while reliability has been great so far, it doesn’t come with some of the advanced endurance ratings or extra-long warranties you’ll see in higher-end models. That said, for typical consumer workloads, it’s more than adequate. Bottom line: A dependable and affordable way to breathe new life into an older machine or expand storage on a newer one. It delivers fast, reliable performance without breaking the bank.

Good quality at a good price
Good quality at a good price. Arrived quickly. Came with screws to mount it and it was easy to install in my Dell desktop computer. Bought this for a new computer that didn't come with a secondary drive. This should easily fit most any desktop computer unless you have stuffed too much into the case already. After looking around on Amazon and comparing to Best Buy, I decided on a 2 TB SSD and found this at a great price on Amazon. The reviews were more favorable than a similar drive from another manufacturer. I'm very happy after a few months.

Must Have
If you're still using an HDD, you're an idiot. This SSD has made my computer SO much faster, it's almost unbelievable. It powers up and wakes up from sleep so fast it's like it was never off. I always had to wait SO LONG for my HDD to do this. And loading folders of pictures and videos is also way faster. Programs start up faster. This was a greater upgrade than getting more RAM or a better graphics card. It's also 100% quiet. My old HDD could be heard spinning & grinding, but this is silent. I had some trouble installing an operating system on it, because it isn't formatted for that by default, but I got it working after a few internet searches. DOES NOT COME WITH MOUNTING SCREWS (which was infuriating--how hard would it have been to supply a couple screws??), so I separately purchased a neat magnetic mount. There aren't any moving parts so there's really no reason to lock it down like everyone tells you to, but nobody wants stuff scattered in their computer tower. I managed to get it for $66 total, but it looks like the price went up.

Silent failure in under a year. Warranty is trash.
This drive failed silently well under a year of use, Idk when it failed I only just noticed it wasn't there when i looked. No errors or warnings it just vanished. Verified Hardware Failure: Tested across multiple ports and with known-good cables. My Crucial SSD works perfectly on the same ports/cables where the PNY is a ghost. Attempted several power-cycle "wake up" methods; the drive is a total brick. I paid for a new, working device. I never received it. Buy now you too can spend your time figuring out where your hard drive went. The warranty they sell the product under is a scam that will not make you whole after they ship you a defective product. I expect my device is under warranty but that is cold comfort considering the quality of a new device. They're gonna hand me the last slobs handmedowns with real nice spitpolish on it. And you'll get mine. There's nothing I want to do less than contact customer support. To go through the warranty process will cost additional fees you are responsible for. PNY needs my SSD to pawn off on the next sucker, this is not free. because PNY knows they're incompetent and sell unreliable garbage with no care for quality or the customer. It would cost them too much money to fully honor the warranties on their hot garbage. And the data privacy thing, I don't think there's anything too private on mine. I mean i can't really check but if you care about that at all you're not sending your intact hard drive to PNY for their junk mill replacement. Buy a different one this is not the SSD you're looking for.

Bought it on a lightning deal and am loving it!
I picked this up on a lightning deal at just the right time and price. This is the 2nd drive I have bought from here. It works really well and plenty fast read and write speeds. Perfect for upgrading an older laptop with a core i7 and can only take a 2.5inch drive. The first drive I bought from here was also installed in one of my older laptops that predates mSata or NVME. I have come to really like PNY products and have bought many of their usb flash drives in the past as well, they are the best working drives I still use daily.

Works as expected.
Never had a problem with PNY SSD's. Had problems with Samsung EVO's. This drive is still perking right along as though I just installed it. It was reasonably priced and had quick shipping.

2 out of 2 working! Earlier problems I had were caused by several faulty SSD enclosures!
***UPDATED REVIEW Dec 3rd: Upon further testing this PNY CS900 2TB SSD with another new SSD (from TeamGroup) using an older USB 3.0 SSD/HDD external enclosure -- and re-initializing the disk in Windows 10 (ThisPC --> Manage --> Disk Management : as a Simple GPT Volume) -- and after doing file transfer tests over a few days and checking the file integrity (MD5 hashes), I have come to the conclusion that the fault is not with this PNY CS900 2TB SSD, but with several faulty SSK-brand (model HE-C600) USB 3.2 external SSD/HDD enclosures I had recently purchased. So far so good, but I have to wait and see if there is anymore file corruption in the months ahead... Nov 23rd: Quality control issue? I bought this PNY CS900 2TB SSD less than two months ago (October), having bought the same PNY model four months earlier (July) which is still working fine; but when I first plugged in this 2nd PNY SSD to my PC, I noticed it took longer than usual to get detected on Windows 10, and have been hesitant to put more files on it due to the slow detection, as well as it randomly disconnecting a few times from Windows Explorer. Last week, it just stopped getting detected by my computer altogether, and I tried hooking it up to an external USB 3.0 SSD docking station; as well as trying different USB cables, but it still will not get detected! It's pretty much unusable at this point, and I only had it for less than two months!

HORRENDOUS sustained write speeds
After about 20 seconds of sustained buffer write, transfer speed bottlenecks and reduces to a shocking crawl, MUCH slower than a basic HDD drives. The advertised "up to" transfer speeds are a complete marketing gimmick that people here apparently fall for. Immediate refund request.
