I tried twice to make these beans and they just wouldn’t soften. I tried soaking overnight with the first batch, and then I tried brining the second batch for 24 hours. I cooked the beans for several hours in my clay cazuela and they just would never soften uniformly; some of the beans would soften but most remained hard. The color of the beans is also unappealing; they are quite dark brown and look unappetizing when made into refried beans, even if you could ignore the gritty texture from the many undercooked beans.I’ve tried a few brands of pinto beans, and these were the worst in terms of usability. I bought two bags and had to throw them both out. I had hoped the higher price would result in a better bean but unfortunately I was wrong.

I think they must be quite old. It took forever for them to cook to a soft state even after soaking for 12 hours prior to cooking. They taste fine.

I use the leftover ham from Thanksgiving to make a ham and bean soup it was excellent! I cooked in my slow cooker for about 15 hours the night before I soaked the beans overnight.

These beans cooked up tender and flavorful. I bought another brand on Amazon that were terrible. These are worth the money and I’ll be buying again.

After 2 hours of boiling, some are divided into pieces but some are still hard like only soaked. Moreover, it will expire in about 5 months which is a short time for a single person to finish this big bag. Online shopping is not the best option for food! There is no mentioning of where it is made either.

High quality pinto beans. They were clean, no runts or stones. Good color, fresh tasting. Excellent quality. And I like the company name and logo too.
