Rubbish for general use.
Not very water proof. Very wet feet after walking in grass and the plastic coating has come way from the front of the boot allowing water to wick in to the boot. On the other boot the rubber sole has started to delaminate, poor manufacturing. DO NOT BUY IF YOU INTEND TO GO HILL WALKING IN THE WET or even just walking. After Six months the sole has now come way from the right boot. They are rubbish stay clear form them as not Hitec.

Cheap(-ish) but good (-ish)
These seem to get very varied reviews - from * to ***** with nothing much in between. My own experience suggests an overall ****. To start with, they were a comfortable fit right out of the box, not usual given my battered feet (culprit: 70 years of boots and wellies). I've now had them a year and wear them pretty much every day. Distances covered vary from short walks in local woods to days out on fells. Conditions underfoot also vary, from moderate to rough. I'm in Cumbria so, wherever and whenever, more often than not there's a lot of rain. After a year of that sort of use, I can report: overall condition of boots, still fine (soles somewhat worn but still solid; soles and uppers still firmly attached to each other); waterproofing has worked equally fine, even on days of steady rain. (I doubt they'd withstand a day on the fells of really torrential rain - but, then, few boots would.) One small criticism and one assumption. Criticism: the laces supplied are flat, not round, and not very sturdy: it's easy to get them partly caught in the top eye and for the lace as a result first to fray and then to disintegrate completely (verb. sap.!). Assumption based on the fact that the tread on the soles is not very deep (in places, it hardly exists: more a surface pattern than a tread): I doubt these would grip well in really frosty conditions. (Last winter, in my part of Cumbria at least, was exceptionally wet but also quite mild so it wasn't an assumption I was able to test in practice.) The disasters other people have had with them suggest a problem with quality control? Or a change of supplier? Or both!

OK while they lasted
Purchased September 2016, falling apart December 2017. These boots do have a wide fit, serve their purpose adequately but don't expect them to last. These have not really had a lot of use - for the first 6 months I had them, they were used no more than 3 hours per week on average. Since April I have probably worn them 7 or 8 hours per week. Both boots are now showing exactly the same problem in that the sole is separating from the inside front of the upper boot. Unless I can replace them quickly I doubt they will last another few weeks and they now offer no waterproof protection at all. The soles and uppers both have loads of wear left in them but not if they are not connected to each other.Perhaps my expectations are too high and mid-range boots are not built to last, but this is just not good at all. These would be 3-4 star boots if they had a longer life but I'm really disappointed and will not buy Hi Tec again.

Good for my wide feet 12F and walking socks.
These boots fit my broad feet well, they are supporting and protect my feet again the rough terrain. They last me about 18 month. I have had leather boot, but they require a lot more maintenance, and have lasted long, but the cost of ownership is about the same. I volunteer for the local search and rescue team. My boots don't have an easy life, I am over 130kg, the damaging environment, and poor weather conditions, these boot work well for me. Hose down, good dry out, and they are ready to go. Only thing I have done is replaced the inserts. All the shoes have failed in the same way with the sole separating from the boot. Hi-Tec: please improve the sole bonding and keep making these, it took me 2 year to find a boot that suits me.

Great sizing and fit but barely water resistant
The media could not be loaded. I am so disappointed with these boots. After struggling to find good fitting waterproof boots for my widish feet- I found these- and they were so comfortable around the house. However I took these for a 6km walk today, in mid/ heavy rain- and avoided any puddles. After 2km or so, my feet were soaked through. I took them off to expose a reservoir of water in each boot! I appreciate that fabric boots are not usually full waterproof, but I feel that canvas pumps would have offered better protection from the rain! Hugely disappointed! Re the enclosed video, I noticed air bubbles everytime I stepped down, I guess showing where the water got in and subsequent air escaping!
