Reusable Originalline Capsule

I got my husband a Nespresso (original line) machine for Christmas (CitiZ) and was concerned with a few things with the disposable pods:1) The price per pod2)The wastefulness of the pods (throwing aluminum away, or even recycling it though that is problematic and uses more resources than I would prefer)3)The long-term health effects of drinking espresso brewed in aluminum.These Capmesso pods seemed to be the answer, though I was a bit nervous since some of the reviews aren't great. After watching a Barista use the Capmesso pods on a review video and it worked well for him, I thought I'd give it a try. For those who haven't had it go well, make sure you listen to the tips that are emailed you from the Capmesso team after purchases. At first I couldn't get the Capmesso pods to brew well with our ground espresso, so I tested the Capmesso pods by opening a store pod and tamping the grounds into the Capmesso. Success! The Capmesso pod worked great, we just needed more finely ground espresso. We ordered a new burr coffee grinder that makes espresso grinds and were off to the races.Having worked as a barista before, I know that a good shot comes by tamping with the right amount of pressure and not overfilling or underfilling your pod. It took us a few shots to get the feel of it, but now we have and are very happy with the flavor! It tastes as good as the store pods, slightly less crema, but great flavor. I would recommend these, and I would recommend you get the three pack. Unless you plan on only using one pod every few hours, you'll want three so that you can make another espresso shot while you are waiting for the pod you just used to cool down so you can clean it.They are very easy to clean. I'm so glad they worked!!

These do not properly fit my Nespresso Pixie machine. It is clear they were made smaller in order to fit (and the manufacturer states this) but, for my machine, they still never fit and it was always a struggle. Sadly, I believe they ruined the machine - possibly by loosening an inner connection and, now, no pods work well. When you insert Nespresso pods (or any others), they simply drop through. The opening has been “loosened,” I grew tired of reaching underneath to put them in the hole, and bought a new machine. On a positive note, I can say that I started with the foil topped pods and was very happy with them. They work beautifully. I just wanted something easier and this was a step too far.

The problem with this device is that the results are inconsistent and mostly result in weak espresso. Specifically, about 1 time out of 10, the outcome is good, other times weak. It's not clear why, but I suspect that it is mainly because the capsules cannot hold sufficient coffee. Sometimes, somehow the results are good, but who really has time to perform endless structured tests to find out why. Not me...and probably not most people.Now due the good news... They are well built and easy to clean...and every now and then the results are OK. Never as good as regular pods, but OK... So that is ok.Not really sure what the brush is for, but it is not helpful to clean the pods after brew... The coffee is compressed in the pods.. The brush is soft. A better tool, which I purchased, would be a metal snuff spoon, so the compressed coffee can be picked out.So yes, I would recommend these, but with the caveat that they are just OK. I will continue using them and maybe after a few thousand brews I will find the exact usage process to yield better results.Good luck

I really love this product, it saved me tons of money on expensive coffee pods. A few things to note about this product though, it doesn't make as much coffee as a regular pod because it is a little smaller. The capsule is a little tedious if you like multiple shots of coffee because you have to clean it out between each use and it is very hot for a bit after being used in the Nespresso machine. It's great in the ways that you get to use your own coffee. The product comes with a cute little cleaning brush and extra replacement bands to keep everything working perfectly. It's very easy to use when you get the hang of it. Overall I'd recommend this product if you want to save money on Nespresso pods and you don't mind the little extra steps when making your coffee. 5 star from me!

Updated review after a few months: After having this set for awhile, I bought the two extra capsules set that comes with the aluminum foil tops. They are MUCH easier to use, and for some reason make a better cup of coffee. If you're getting this set, I'd also buy a pack of aluminum foil tops to go with it. It'll make your life easier. Still love my set though.I love my Capmesso set! It's high quality - capsules are well-made, the tamp is super heavy, comes with extra gaskets, and the scoop is the exact amount needed to go into the capsules. The capsules are slightly smaller than the actual Nespresso pods, and they do take a bit of wiggling to get them in correctly, but once you get the hang of it, it's easy. The trick with the pods is learning how to fill them with the correct amount of grounds (just use the scoop) and how tightly to tamp the grounds. It takes a few cups or so to get it right, but then you're set! It's so nice to be able to buy my favorite coffee blends and drink them again. I highly recommend this product set.
