Will this work with later models?

Check your box or your phone for the SM-number as I did, and your new stylus s-pen will match. My note 5 is about two years old and this pen is the official replacement. I needed to get this as I just replaced the note 5 with the 9 S+, which now I can sell my note and everything is complete.
