A very serious book
I am amazed at the accuracy of the transcriptions in this book. You can hear just about all of the pieces played by Joe Pass on YouTube, and the transcriptions are just about 99%+ note for note accurate. There's the occasional lapse but very rare. The music is presented with notes and tabs. In one or two cases I found the tabs didn't match the notes, but then again it's always best (I think) to read the notes and just use the tabs for position and voicing suggestions. There is no quarter given with respect to the need for advanced technique. This book is more than advanced, it's at the master level. But even though I'm an intermediate and realistically playing even remotely like Joe Pass is just never ever going to happen, it's tons of fun and great learning. I dip into it, try things out, work on some passages, and just have a terrific time. If you're at the intermediate level, the book will serve you, and if you're more advanced, you'll have a great challenge with some great music.Definitely one of my better music purchases even if it is mostly beyond my reach. Five stars for sure.

Highly Recommended
This is an excellent book. Very accurate transcriptions. I highly recommend it. Note, however, unless you are already a solid jazz player, you will need patience working through this book (put it this way, I have managed to learn two songs in six months working 2-3 hours a week). Joe's virtuosity truly is on display in these songs as he mixes in complex chord voicing and blisteringly fast single note runs. Many of those single note runs will challenge even the better shred guitarists as they rarely move straight up or down a scale. The good news is that you can go to You Tube and hear Joe playing many of these songs in the version that is tabbed here. For further instruction, there are two guitarists that have channels that showcase these songs. One is faridguitarra , whose version of Have You Met Miss Jones is excellent. Another is Jazzomax who covers I Cannot Get Started and The Man I Love really well.

Great stuff!
Can't play it, but very beneficial to read through what he was doing (at much slower tempos and much more free rhythm). I find it a great way to practice.

Patience Required
This book is awesome! Just one thing though.. its pretty tough. Intermediate players beware this book will require patiences! Having the CD or listening to it on YouTube is a must to understand some of the feel of the songs.

The one and only Joe Pass
Greatest Jazz guitarist who ever lived demonstrates his phenomenal ability. Just listening gives you the opportunity of picking up some ideas for your own playing, Adding his books really is an education.

Advanced
I think if you can work through all these pieces (which are accurately transcribed), and you can play them fluently, you're at a pretty advanced level: the pieces are all lengthy, contain fast melodic improvisations, and quite a free sense of time. There is no CD, so you'll have to buy the Joe Pass Virtuoso recordings.
