Edited, introduced and annotated by Cedric Watts, Research Professor of English, University of Sussex The Tempest is the most lyrical, profound and fascinating of Shakespeare's late comedies. Prospero, long exiled from Italy with his daughter Miranda, seeks to use his magical powers to defeat his former enemies. Eventually, having proved merciful, he divests himself of that magic, his 'art', and prepares to return to the mainland. The Tempest has often been regarded as Shakespeare's 'farewell to the stage' before his retirement. Review: Good - Good Review: Great Version of Tempest Text - Short and sweet text of the tempest.

I Read The Tempest for Drama Class… and Now I’m Dramatically Confused
Okay, so I got The Tempest (Wordsworth Classics) because drama class vibes, right? Honestly, this book is like a storm in a teacup if the tea was full of wizards, ghosts, and VERY angry island spirits. Pros: the language is fancy and makes me sound super dramatic when I read out loud (10/10 for theatrical flair). Cons: I have no idea what half the words mean and now I just pretend I understand and gesticulate wildly Also, Prospero is totally extra and Caliban deserves a snack
