Very good thermometer with the same on/off switch that failed on my old one
This is an excellent reader for Type-K thermocouples. It is the third one that I have purchased, and while expensive, the previous two lasted 10 years before failing. However, in both cases the failure was in the on/off switch which becomes intermittent and after a while no longer will turn it on or off. When that occurs you have (until you can get a new one) a backup procedure for turning it on (auto-off still works with a failed switch), just open the battery compartment and re-close it. It always activates when a new battery is installed or power is applied so it is like you successfully turned it on (good for the five minutes before it turns itself off). This could be fixed with a design change but this is a very old design and probably not worth the investment for the number that would be sold (and even fewer if they fixed the switch).

Very Poorly Built
Purchased this unit less than two years ago. Very seldom used. The display does not longer works...it displays just signs and lines but you can't read the temperature, illegible.
