desertcart.com: Fullmetal Alchemist, Vol. 4-6: 9781421540191: Arakawa, Hiromu: Books Review: Quickly becoming one of my all time favorite manga series! - This continues to be a fantastic manga series. I love the characters, the world, the story and the illustration. My 12 year old son and I continue to be really impressed with this series and find it highly entertaining! Ed and Al are both injured and trapped in a secret alchemical laboratory, but their fates take a turn for the better (maybe?) when Lust and Envy decide to let them go. Although they are grateful to be alive, then end having to start their search for the philosopher's stone all over. This leads them back to their old teacher and back to their past and how they ended up where they are today. I really continue to love this series. The story is so involved and intricate but never gets confusing. The characters are amazing; many characters are introduced but, again, this is done in such a way that it’s never confusing. The illustration is well done and easy to follow. I love all the action and humor in here and how balanced it is with the rest of the story. I also really enjoyed the flash back to how Ed and Al got to where they are today, this provides some awesome background and helps us understand these characters better. Overall this is quickly becoming one of my favorite manga series of all time. I definitely plan on continuing and would highly recommend to those who like action packed manga balanced with an excellent story, intriguing characters, and amazing world building. Review: Another option for those who want one - This is just primarily for the books themselves because there are already plenty of reviews for the actual story. As it stands, these are good for the price and if you are into 3 in 1 tankobans, then you will feel right at home. Pages do feel a bit lighter compared to single volume and the complaints are valid. But unless you are ACTIVELY trying to break the pages, they are still as sturdy a normal book pages. I will also say that these books are not meant for travel, although this did not happen to me unless you have someplace to put them in a bag that is protected, outside damage is likely like scratches and even slight small cuts. Even so, still satisfied as I was able to get a deal on all 9 books under 90 Dollars. Do this, go for the hardcovers that are up to volume 5 at this point as of writing this review. Each of them only cover 2 as suppose to 3 but with the added effect of better and clearer scans that are better to stand the test of time, that is most likely a definitive version for those who enjoy this series. And as someone who has up to volume 4, even though there is gonna be at least a 2 to 3-year release window seeing that there will be about 18 total hardcovers, I say they are worth the investment. But that's what is great because between the individual Volumes, the box set and the 3 in 1, even if you don't wanna wait, you still have that option.

Way cheaper than the kindle or single volume versions
This series continues to get better. I'm a manga fan, but I like progress in a story. I often find that series will fill space between quality narrative with fluff pieces, which as a purchaser drives me crazy. Fullmetal is the wonderful exception to the rule so far. Starting in volume 2 and continuing at least through this work (I can't testify to the later volumes) the story is well paced and grows in intrigue without slipping into lazy writing or framing, which can also be a failure in the genre. I'd put this alongside Attack on Titan in terms of quality, though the art is superior. Also the quality of the book itself was solid. Thin pages, but what else do you expect for 600 page manga?

Fullmetal Alchemist fully enjoyable!
Purchased this for my daughter (lovely child with Asperger's (I know in some circles has been lumped in the "Autism Spectrum" but my daughter much prefers to be a "Aspie"). Oh yes the review you ask? .. My daughter loves the series and much prefers the 3 in 1 volumes such as this one. the Fullmetal Alchemist is one of her favorite Manga series and is quite happy with the book and it's story line. I would strongly recommend the book and the entire series as it is one of the better Manga series out there IHAP Oh yes to those unenlightened it is Manga not mangia as in eating pasta (sorry to be politically incorrect)

Manga en tapa blanda, sin sobrecubierta, en idioma ingles. Cada volumen contiene 3 mangas. La edición tiene pasta algo frágil, pero vale la pena
