Fun activity for 9 year old boy
My son is 9. He will turn 10 in two weeks. We sat together and worked on this. He loves mysteries, riddles, coded messages, and detective work. He is old enough that he did not need my help, but it was just sweet cuddle time together. Truth be told, it was fairly simple for him. However, he was still entertained by this activity, and it took him several minutes to get through it. A win for our family!

Fun for traveling 5 year old
My 5 year old used this on a recent traveling trip and absolutely loved it. I did have to help her with the reading parts but she had so much fun with it. I added it to her special travel activity bag that I pack for her whenever we travel. I fill it with unseen and surprise trinkets (Its called "Airplane Travel Activities" on my blog). I give them the bag right before we get to the airplane and this fit perfectly in the bag.

Good for travel
It is a fun activity for travel that a child can do independently. It kept my daughter busy for half hour during a car trip.

Fun, quiet, self entertaining
I got this to keep my 3 1/2 year old quietly entertained while sitting during a Bible discourse. It worked for the most part! He liked the spy glass and marker (tho he made a mess with the marker). The spy glass is made of sturdy enough cardboard. Tho he had fun with it and could look for a hidden shell on each page with the spy glass, some of the activities would be better suited for slightly older when he can read the storyline thru the activities.

sturdy set that keeps decoder and pen in place
I got this for my six year old son who loves to play games and figure things out. He is in first grade and just learning to read. He loves the decoder and pen (marker) and does a good job of keeping them put away in the little compartments in the set, which are surprisingly sturdy and keep them in place. He's had to ask me for help reading some instructions, but he's mostly been able to do it himself (a big plus!) and has enjoyed doing it on his own. This little book set was a great value and does not feel cheap or flimsy at all. I think most 6-8 year olds would enjoy it, and I would get it again.

Another great Melissa & Doug product
This was a fun little activity that kept a 6 year old busy for a few hours. I like that this book is relatively small and can be packed away in a bag easily for trips, without taking up too much space. I love Melissa & Doug products!

Quick, one time use only
This entertained my 6 year old for about 30 minutes. It is a one-time use only book. I was disappointed thinking it would be like the water wow books and be able to be wiped off or reused again. Seems like a lot of money for a one-time use toy.
