Seeds of Amazonian Plants (Princeton Field Guides, 66)

As someone who gathers native tree seeds in the rainforests of the Orinoco River basin, I can definitely say that this is a great book on the subject of seeds derived from Amazonian plants. The illustrations are excellent and the material is more or less comprehensive. Even if you are not a botanist, but rather a natural silviculturist like myself, you will find this book to be practical and fairly easy to use. It is also fun to just browse through it, because like many other aspects of tropical trees, the seeds can be both exotic and stunningly beautiful. As a result I am happy to give it top points for both usefulness and for coffee table pleasure.

There are some wonderful pictures of seeds in this book, although the individual pictures are kind of small. As an archaeobotanist, I would like to see more details of the seed characteristics. But, the pictures were clear, which hasn't been the case with every seed book I have purchased. It is a great addition to my library.
