Sweet Feet and Beak Small Shred Master Refill

So glad I found these refills! Our cockatiel loves to shred paper, so this was the perfect toy for him, but it's been out of his cage since the original roll ran out. Not only does it give him the paper to chew, but he had to learn how to pull on the paper to get more out -- a basic enrichment activity!

I placed this toy in my bird's cage and he immediately started playing with it. Ballou, (Blue Quaker Parrot) is quite inquisitive, but sometimes afraid of new additions to his "domain". He has a play top area on his cage, a separate portable perch to take him around and a "night night" cage for sleeping...you get the idea, he is spoiled. This product goes inside of his cage for his playtime when he is unsupervised. I always monitor new toys for safety as he lost a toe to another toy that was well reviewed, but in our case, very flawed. Ballou immediately goes to tearing up the paper that is hanging out of the reel and has had no difficulty pulling additional paper out to play with. He plays with this every day and the paper lasts about a month. It is a perfect size for him, so I would say this size would be appropriate for any bird no larger than an African Grey. It is helpful to know that Ballou likes to tear up paper, so that might be one of the reasons for his love of this toy. A little hint; I place this toy over his pedicure perch so he works on his nails while playing with it. Very sturdy toy, easy to refill. and lots of fun.

My Conure loves shredding this paper. She is able to pull the paper out herself. I like it as well since it makes her happy and gives her something when I am not home.

I was super excited about this toy at first but right away as soon as I pulled it out of the package the chain was already broken. I thought I could fix it but it was a metal pin. It's also very very big for a cockatiel. I'm afraid if they swung it and it came back and hit them it would knock them out. Surely if it fell on them it would crush them. I like the concept and the service, but in reality it's not the best for tiles, maybe a bigger bird.

Extremely pricy for the product. I didn't realize this was just a refill. One very small roll of adding machine tape cost me over $9!

Returned the refill as the shedder came with enough paper to last.
