Reinventing the Steel

Hellbound in Ft. Worth Texas!
I was working at Tom Thumb on Cooper in Arlington overnights when they were recording this album. Vinnie would come into the store maybe once a week, late at night, usually not buy anything & just walk the entire store looking down every aisle, from what I could tell just looking for hot chicks. I'd get updates on how the record was coming along from time to time but I didn't bother him every time he came in just because I could tell he was on a mission & I didn't want to act like a fanboy. I also ran into Dime a few times at The Tattoo Bar during that time drinking. Both of them were always super cool and never seemed bothered when I approached them. That goes all the way back to the high school days, though when I went to Keller High & they were in Arlington. They were a few years older than me & I never talked to them much but they were playing alot of parties back then. I sat on a friends couch one time in 88 while Dime was just jamming & it was the first I'd heard the solo at the end of Floods in its infancy. Of course I was super high & I was trippin & sort of jealous, like why couldn't I shred a guitar like that or just be that cool? Then prior to Vulgar's release, some old friends came & saw me in Houston when Pantera came through late Nov 91 & got me in free with backstage & partying out by their bus & then back into the bar ,where Dime took over pouring shots. Those were fun years, the 80s & 90s. As for this 20th anniversary edition,I Love the instrumental version of the album on disc 3 plus the Sabbath covers,Hole in the Sky & Electric Funeral & Immortally Insane,Avoid the Light & Cat Scratch Fever. The Terry Date remixes I've skimmed through sound pretty good but I've yet to give it the full attention I have disc 3.Still one of my favorite Pantera albums & worth picking up just because you're a Pantera fan. If you’re a fan of Pantera this is definitely right up your alley. Some great unreleased/unheard tracks on here. The remix is nice, maybe preferred to the originals but I’ll have to listen through them a few more times to see for sure. The unreleased tracks and instrumentals are worth the price alone in my opinion but if you’re not into the remixes, the original album is included in this on a CD as well. It should be no surprise to anyone that the best metal band that ever was, didn’t disappoint. This is easily a 10/10 set.

Breaths new life in an underrated metal masterpiece
Reinventing the Steel must be the "worst" Pantera (modern) Pantera album - and yet it is still a masterpiece. Just goes to show how good this band was, and deserving of the top 3 metal bands of all time. The other would be Megadeth and Testament, but I digress...The Terry Date mix is interesting and really good - the clarity is unbelievable. But it doesn't have that "Pantera" sound - something the remastered album on the 2nd CD has. I actually prefer this version, as it improves on the original master immensely, and retains that classic Pantera sound we are all very familiar with. The remaster is the definitive version for me. Would love to see this released in higher bitrate, or vinyl. Take my money.

Metal Milestone
I had never heard this album before my purchase of the 3-disc Anniversary edition, and I'm glad I went for this version, as it was just what my weary ears of today needed. (though I mostly listen to music of the past, anyway)

Wow the Terry Date mix is pretty awesome.
It felt as though I was listening to a new Pantera record. I loved what Terry Date did with the music. I say he set it just right for us people whom don't have a big sound system in our vehicles. The drum toms were more distinct and the bass guitar was more audible. It was great to sit and listen to the whole album again. I listened to the whole thing when it was originally released. Thanks!

Happy 20th Anniversary!!!
Reinventing The Steel was pretty much my introduction to Pantera 20 years ago when it came out and I got it for my birthday. For the 20th Anniversary, the album was remixed by longtime producer Terry Date, and if that wasn't enough, the original mix is included remastered as well as additional material like b-sides, covers, instrumental rough mixes, etc. I never thought this album could sound better, the new mix makes it sound totally new.

Unstoppable album gets a remix by their original producer.
I grabbed this when it dropped in price temporarily. $20 is a bit steep for an album I already own. Otherwise, I mostly enjoy the Terry Date remix and the studio bonus tracks. Not crazy about the live tracks. They're just "whatever."

Worth the money to buy again 20 years later
The Terry Date mix is worth the price alone as you'll hear things that aren't on the original album mix, and all the instruments are crystal clear. Little Dimebag fills, clear up front bass tracks, and drum tracks that sound better. Overall a much better mix in my opinion.

Terry Date's remix was worth the £30 price tag
Unbelievable, simply unbelievable is all I can say about this album or more specifically Terry Date's 2020 remix. Now I always considered this album to be my absolute favourite Pantera album maybe it was the fact I was 14 when it was released and I bought it the week it came out and was the first Pantera album I had ever heard but that doesn't change how good this is.I always thought Vinnie Paul did a good job on the original release but let's face it Terry Date was a huge part of Pantera's sound and he has absolutely elevated this album to new heights.Despite owning over 1000 CD's I rarely buy albums now and stream music on Spotify like most people, the last physical album I bought was over 2 years ago however I am so glad I did.I listened to this earlier on my Teufel 5.2 surround sound speakers and it was an absolute privilege.

All Hail Terry Date!
Wow. I'm a terminal Pantera fan, and love Terry's work on their material. As much as I loved the original release of RTS, Terry's magic brings new life to every track. I'm hearing stuff I didn't hear so clearly (or at all) on the original release. it just sounds tighter, raw, more edge... signature mix we heard on VDOP is my comparison (IMO). Worth buying this release, even if your getting the CD for the 2nd time! Terry Date is King! (just listen to Soundgarden's Badmotorfinger as another example of his work). Cheers.

Edición 20th anniversary
Un discazo, de hecho, lo tenía olvidado y un día lo vi por Amazon y decidí comprarlo, vale muchísimo la pena, ya que está remasterizado y viene con 3 CDs.

Received thanks!
I forgot just how heavy this band is, the third CD is pretty much all guitar solos!
