a bit like marmite
i really liked this film, but it's a bit like marmite: not to everyone's taste, i'm guessing.it's about a woman called sarah who is about to is about to open up a bakery along with her lifelong best friend isabella, when she dies suddenly. the two of them had both signed a contract for a lease for the bakery/shop, so now isabella has to try and cancel the lease, with great difficulty. she goes to sarah's mam, mimi, to ask for money for the venture, and she agrees to both funding it and helping to run it.they don't manage to sell the cakes they make in the first week to be able to pay the rent. then mimi has a brain wave. why don't they bake cakes from the countries that the people in the vacinity, in globally minded london, can eat and be reminded of home?the film is a certificate 12. there's a tiny bit of drug taking in it, and adult romance in it. the film has a original theme, and there's a bit more going on in it besides what i have outlined. if you like blockbusters, or horror or hobbits and wizards, this might not be the film for you. but if you like a good story about emotion and trying to make the best of life, and finding positives in regrets, then you might enjoy this. i'll be watching it again, so i'll have to put it in a dvd box to savour for later, like a nice cake.

If you loved 'Notting Hill' this film is for you...
'Love Sarah' is a kind of Richard Curtis-lite comedy/drama made for those COVID-19 comfy nights in with your partner; wine, nibbles, sofa.... lights down, movie on. Without giving too much about the plot-line away, we have four main characters who all have something in common with the titular Sarah. The wonderful Celia Imrie plays her Mother; Rupert Penry-Jones Sarah's past lover. The ravishing Shelly Conn was Sarah's best friend; Shannon Tarbet her daughter. The story revolves around the opening of a new bakery. Bill Paterson shows up as a love interest for Imrie. Like all films of this genre there are gaping holes in the plot and we suspend belief that four adults can make a living out of one shop taking £600 per week....? And all live comfortably in London? That type of thing. It's not Ingmar Bergman, but if you like his work you wouldn't be watching this would you.....?Utterly enjoyable. Rent and enjoy......

Not great
Actors are the best but the story is just plain boring.

Good B movie, but doesn't quite get going well enough
Good actors, well directed, interesting (if slightly hackneyed) location. the story line dwells too long on the downsides that led to the bakery, then there are a few too many co-incidences in the plot line. It also follows the usual formula of a downside leading to a good American style , obvious plot finish. I liked it, nothing was really wrong with it, and nothing made me want to watch it again, An old friend of mine who used to shout: "cut, cut, cut" would have helped a lot in this movie to tighten it up.

Another Good Film Featuring Celia Imrie.
This is not an original film but it is charming and the cast make up for what proves to be enjoyable snd nice film to watch. Filled with charm the film does a good job in entertainment. I loved seeing Celia Imrie again she is an incredibly talented actor and I have quite a number of films that feature her. The Director Eliza Schroeder did a good ob and her cast all gave good performances. The locations were carefully chosen and I am sure you will enjoy the film and "Love Sarah" is deserving a view and I say "Watch"!

What is it?
While well made and with a good cast, I was lefty wondering what it was all about, neither Comedy, Romance, Thriller! I did not laugh or get excited, it was - Boring I suppose. I bought it after watching 'Finding My Feet'. which starred Celia Imrie, amongst others, a far better film in every way. However, that does not mean to say that you would not enjoy Love Sarah.Bopb

Slow paced yet evocative British Film
The tensions unfold as amends are made to remember Sarah and her dream of opening a bakery. Adapting to the surrounding culinary tastes and cultures of the people that pop in to the bakery is a recipe for collaboration and success. Liked this film. Evocative and heartwarming.
