Singing Teacher's Bible
Janice Chapman shares a lifetime of knowledge and experience of singing teaching. Complex information is broken down into short sections broken up with diagrams and even cartoons. A must for those new to the profession but also so much of interest for experienced teachers as well. Janice is highly regarded in the singing world. By publishing her handbook she has ensured her wisdom will be accessible for generations to come.

Fantastically readable but based on science and scholarship
I would highly recommend this book, not only to those interested in singing, but to anyone interested in the human voice. The chapters, written both by Chapman and many eminent practitioners, focus on the vocal progression of alignment, breathing, phonation, resonance and articulation, but also encompass issues such as artistry, the voice and the brain and pedagogical approaches. The book is underpinned by a detailed understanding of the anatomy and physiology of voice, but the style is highly readable. The chapters are interspersed with fascinating real-life case studies and personal observations from the authors' own practices. Chapman's own personality shines clearly throughout the book. She is obviously passionate about her subject and students and her warmth and enthusiasm are evident. I am not a singer myself or a singing teacher, but I do work with the spoken voice and I found this book full of information and insights to help me in my work. Unreservedly recommended.

excellent book on classical singing
I think this book should be required reading for all serious students of vocal pedagogy and singing teachers. It is up-to-date, factual and very clearly written, with detailed explantions of vocal and respiratory anatomy and phisiology, The author also shares useful anecdotes and specific exercises for vocal improvement, based on her own extensive experience as a singer and voice teacher. It is highly readable, and addresses the concept of holistic singing in a new and very meaningful context. In my opinion, a very valuable book.

Must-buy
This book is a must-buy for all singing teachers. I myself am a contemporary voice teacher but find very little of what Janice Chapman writes applies only to classical singing. There are many similarities in good technique of any style. This book is for all teachers who are serious about addressing vocal technique, and treating each student as a whole person.

I do not recommend this book that much.
I am not satisfied with this book. Because the cover is very dirty and old. And the previous user’s name is still on it. It’s not worth the price.

Only for those interested in the art of singing and how to teach singing. Easy reading but ultimately very academic.

Read all the details before purchasing.
I couldn't access the website that accompanied this book as the code to do so had already been taken as this was a used book. I missed reading all the details way down in the description that mentioned this. I've contacted the publisher, but this is disappointing as this wasn't a cheap book.
