Great bit of kit
These are so easy to install and do the job perfectly. The back box behind a double socket in my kitchen had broken, it was behind tiles so a real nightmare to replace, I bought these clips, it took less than 10 minutes to fit from switching off the electricity at the fuse, unscrewing one side of the socket, fitting the clip, screwing the socket back in lace and switching the electricity on again, absolutely brilliant!

Back box clips
They are great easy to fix as long as you have a gap on the sides of the box. If you haven't you can always scrap some of the plaster away like I did. I will definitely get them again

Brilliant product!
I had two back boxes each with one stripped screw lug. These clips easily went into place, I knocked them in using a punch - the outer part of the clip went between the plaster and the box with no problems. Before starting to position the clip just make sure you knock the stripped lug flat with the side of the back box. The fixing screws then simply went into the thread in the clip and tightened perfectly. Excellent product that works really well, highly recommended.

Great solution to tricky problem
Ingenious solution to disintegrating back box obviating the need to do major wall repairs to refit light socket. Easy to apply, snapped on with ease (plus a tap from a light hammer) Job done in 10 mins. Super effective !!

The perfect fix for an old back box
Fixing the DIY bodges of previous occupants can be an expensive job. I'll never know why they put the light switch back box in with the screws top and bottom rather than left and right according to tradition, but it bugged me for a couple of years. When I finally had to change the plate to fit a new switch I didn't want to have to rip out the old backbox and replaster the wall, so these clips were the perfect time- and money-saver. I did have to scrape some render out with a screwdriver to make room for the outer part of the clip, but once that was done the clip slid in and I was able to attach the front plate perfectly.

Brilliant bit of kit!
Over the last 40 years I have had my struggles with metal back-boxes. All of the houses have been over 100 years old and the electrical installations have not been great. All of the houses were stone and plaster thicknesses can vary widely, as can the fixings for the back box to the wall itself. The wall are mostly irregular and rarely flat, which leads to the back-boxes being at odd angles. When switches or power sockets are installed on the back-boxes it is quite easy to strip the threads in the back-box. This makes repairs difficult; firstly to remove the switch and secondly to install a new one. These clips use the principal of captive nuts found in many pieces of equipment and vehicles. The threaded section is sturdy and mounted in a clip that is installed over the side-wall of the back-box itself. Removing the threaded section in the back box is fiddly but if the back-box is well supported it could be hammered or filed flat, or in my case I used drill to remove metal then a Dremel tool to make the back-box wall flat for clips. This is way better than having to remove the box and inevitably hacking out plaster, or removing a section of plaster board with the prospect of a lot of repair and decoration - why hasn't someone thought of this before?!
