I will never go back to a normal pill cutter again.
I have over a dozen pill cutters in the past 3 years and this one is far superior to all of them. With cutters that cut multiple pills at once AND with cutters that do one at a time, there are A LOT of crumbles. This means a lot of my medication is dust and wasted. I cannot afford to waste my pills. Another problem I had was that the cuts were often uneven. This means that some days I was getting too much medication and on other days I got too little. This gem of a pill cutter may only do one at a time, but there is little to no dust or crumbs. The pills are always split perfectly even too. I took a closer look at the cutter to figure out why. The seems that the base is sitting on a shallow spring. I place the pill on the cutter and slide the blue lever to secure the pill into the space. This keeps the pill from moving. I place the lid back on the top and press. NOW HERE IS WHERE THIS CUTTER DIFFERS FROM ANY OTHER. Not only is there a blade on the top of the lid cutting downward, but there is also a blade under the base that cuts upward. So my pill is being cut from the top AND the bottom. Why has no one thought of this before? I have tried well over a dozen different types and brands of cutters and none of them has done this. It is utterly awesome! What a huge difference. I can do an entire bottle of pills and the amount of dust is no more than what other cutters made in just a few pills. Zero crumbs at all. All cuts are even. Adding those two pieces of materials (a tiny spring and a second blade) make all the difference in the world. I have no idea if it comes in multiple colors or not. I just took what was originally offered. I will never go back to a normal cutter again!

No crumbling
Love it! I spent the extra money because it said it would cut pills evenly and they won’t crumble and it’s perfectly every time! Very happy with it. Worth the money!

Five Stars But With two Important Caveats.
Okay, so, in almost all ways I can think of, this is the best pill cutter I have ever owned. I should say that I only use it for very small pills. The first, and more unfortunate caveat is the blade. It is excellent when you first get the cutter, and start using it, but as the blade starts to dull (which, blades being what they are doesn't take too long) the pills become more difficult to cut. I am going to be replacing mine very soon, by the way. The second caveat is that I have discovered by trial and error, that this pill cutter works best if you take your time centering one pill. I don't try to do multiples with this unit. Anyway, before I try to cut, I center it perfectly, and use the two levers to really tighten the holding-arms so the pill can't move at all. I also find it works best if I DO NOT try to cut too fast. Instead, I close the lid only partway, so the blade is resting on top of the little, tiny pill. Then I take a second to make sure the little arms are holding the pill as tightly as possible, and then I close it in one smooth motion. The thing is that if I don't do all of those steps, then half the time, I get uneven cuts, and the other half of the time, the pill fragments and crumbles. But if I take an extra second or two to make sure the pill is held tightly, with the blade resting DEAD CENTER on the pill (oh and I always check before I cut to see if the blade is rested exactly in the center of the pill) then I get near perfect cuts every time. That is even with my blade being dulled. I know it sounds like a lot for a little pill, but it really only takes a second or two to make sure the pill is really in there tight, and that when you first rest the top with the blade on the pill, that the downward pressure doesn't move the pill even a millimeter in any direction. Like I said, though, I wouldn't expect this to last very long. I will buy it again in the coming weeks, and use the dulled one as a spare, but just know that even though this is a great little pill-cutter, small blades like this are simply not meant to last forever.

Great pill splitter easy on the hands, mainly accurate!
This is definitely one of the better pill cutters I have ever used and I have to take a half pill every day so have been through quite a few. It splits pills easily which I need because my hands can’t and it’s important that they be evenly split which it does 90% if it will stay put, and it’s hard to get it to stay in place with the pill aligned to be cut into even doses. But I do love the ease of the two blades and I don’t have to throw away any too big or too small pieces so really I wish I could do 4.5 Stars!! Highly recommend just need something to stick in the line on the pills to help get it aligned and keep it there, could be a little less expensive for us older people on limited incomes!

Takes a bit of experience to use efficiently.
I need to split a small pill into quarters. I started off using the advice of another review to use a toothpick with a sharp point for maneuvering the pill or parts of the pill into position. With the full pill, not a problem, just get it near center and use the centering device to push it into place. Place the cover on and press evenly on the center of the cover or with both thumbs on each end. HINT: A head mounted jeweler eye loupe greatly reduces effort and pill position accuracy! Hard part, positioning the half pill for the cut. Place the rounded half of the pill centered in the fence. for small pills, the centering device doesn't work. Then split the pill with the cover. For some reason, this frequently causes small flakes. Repeat for the other pill half. The process is slow and tedious. Initially, I would only split half of the pills in the prescription at one time. This procedure requires three pill positioning and cuttings. To reduce the number of cuttings per pill, after cutting the pill in half, I decided to try positioning the two halves as if they were a whole pill. Amazingly, it was almost as easy as the initial cut because the irregularities in the cut surfaces automatically meshed and easier to move with the toothpick. Also, the pill alignment device automatically centers the pill. Further, because the pill halves are more "locked" together, the tendency for flaking is essentially eliminated. For this to work well, the pill facing surfaces need to be in the same relation as before the initial pill cut. It is very easy while maneuvering the pill halves for a half to get flipped over. I made sure that any identifying feature is on top for the initial cut so that I can tell which is side is up. The photos show: 1) Initial pill position with identifying marking up. 2) Pill halves after Initial cut. 3) Positioning of split pill in position for the second cut. 4) Quarters of pill after second cut. 5) Finished 90 day supply prescription. EDIT: The image display sequence does not match the numbered descriptions above that is the sequence they were uploaded in the review. Image description Display Sequence 1 4 2 1 3 5 4 2 5 3 NOTE: Time using this method is about 1/3 to 1/4 as using the 3 cut process.

First pill splitter i've owned and I'm happy. Works well for a Blind person.
I'm totally blind. I needed to get a pill splitter being my guide dog started limping and needed to take some meds but only a half of an pill at a time. So I went out searching to see what I could find. I know that their are many different pill splitters on the market. I've never owned one before and I had some type of idea what they should do. So I went and looked at a few on Amazon. I was hoping I would get one that I found easy to use. So I went ahead and gave this one a shot to see how it worked for me. When teh got the pill splitter out of the box, I noticed it was ovol in shape and had a lever sticking out of one side of it. I thought that lever was to push down to split the pill. But even then; I didn't find ware to put the pill if that whir the case and how to allow it to take larger pills. My hopes at that point weren't good. At that point, I pull on the top and bottom and to my shock, the two parts came apart. Then I went oh ok! Now we are getting someware. I found the blade in the top part that didn't have the lever sticking out of the side of it. Then I noticed a spot on the bottom part that look like it could take a pill. But I also noticed! It didn't look like it would hold a very large pill at all. Even with a small pill, you had to stand it up on its side. I started to get disapointed again. I couldn't figure out how to change the size of pill it would hold. Tried splitting a small pill of pain med like an Aleave just to see how it worked. I tried using my fingers to move the area that I put the pill in to see if it would move. No luck! Then I put the pill cutter backin the box and walk away from it for an hour or so. Then my brain went I wonder if the lever on the side plays a part in changing the size of pill it will hold. Went and got the pill splitter back out of the box! Pull the two parts apart! Grabbed the lever and pulled on it! Wow feel that! The lever pulled out. Thebn I reached up and checked the area that initially held a small pill and look at that! The area slid apart! Now it will hold an horse pill! At this point, I'm very happy with it. So basically! you need to pull the top and bottom apart, Pull the lever out! Put your pill in the area to be split, push in the lever to hold the pill steady, put the top half back on and press down to split the pill. Then pull the two top and bottom apart again to remove your split pill. It is that easy.

Works flawlessly, well-worth the money !
Works very well ! Excellent invention ! I had some large, white, chalky, oval anti-biotic pills that, when you put them in a normal pill-splitter, they crumble and come out looking like shards and pieces. With this unit, the fit is perfect, they are cut clean, the final product is close to perfect every time. I just have to remember to always set it initially on a hard surface, like the kitchen table, before I press down. A device we didn't know we needed. This will help me with my dog's pills, too.

Best option for small pills, but still not perfectly consistent
I give this pill cutter 3 stars because it does not cut very small pills (like Anastrozole) evenly every time. In the photos, one pill is split roughly 40-60, while another shown in the video comes out close to 50-50. That said, this is still the best pill cutter I have used so far. I have tried multiple options from CVS, Walgreens, and Amazon, and the typical hinged designs do not produce consistent 50-50 splits on small tablets. One downside is that it takes time to use. You need to carefully position the pill and secure it in place before cutting. This is manageable for a few pills, but it becomes slow if you are cutting many. Another limitation is positioning. Once a small pill is inside, it is difficult to adjust it with your fingers to align the score line with the blade. I end up using a toothpick or similar tool to rotate and position it more precisely. Overall, I would still recommend this over other cutters if you are working with very small pills, as long as you do not need to split a large number at once.

Uneven cute because the design is flawed
My 2 us dollars pill cutter(31 swedish crowns approximately) worked better , this is not worth even 1 dollar, uneven by design.

WORTH ITS WEIGHT IN GOLD!
I bought this pill cutter, because my cat has been prescribed Gabapentin, and if you’ve EVER tried to ‘cut’ a Gabapentin Tablet evenly ‘in half’, you will know how almost IMPOSSIBLE it is to do, without it shattering into small pieces! I was tearing my hair out trying to cut these tablets! So I went searching for some sort of ‘alternative’ way to cut my cats Gabapentin Tablets, and I came across THIS WONDERFUL PILL CUTTER! Although initially I have to admit that I did have to think twice before actually purchasing it, because it is quite expensive, I was SO desperate, I thought I’d give it a go! And I am SO glad I did! It works slightly differently from most other pill cutters, because instead of using the standard ’single’ blade, this little pill cutter has TWO BLADES, one on the top blue cover, and another one that comes up from underneath the white bottom. The interior has a ‘guide’ that holds the pill securely in place, preventing it from sliding around whilst you cut it, and the ‘platform’ that you place the pill onto, is ‘floating’ on some sort of a ‘sprung mechanism’, so that when you push down on the blue cover, that contains the first blade, at the same time, the second blade comes up from the bottom, underneath the pill, so then cutting the pill with TWO blades instead of a single blade! A basic, simple concept, but it actually WORKS! I found that the most successful way to use this pill cutter, was to use both hands, and then push down on either side of the cutter, evenly, using the base of my thumbs (see photo 1). It managed to make light work in cutting all of my Tablets, which are less prone to shattering (see photo 2), but it did also manage to successfully cut my cat’s Gabapentin as well, upon ‘most’ attempts, but that wasn’t the fault of this pill cutter, the fault, as I’ve said, lies in the type of tablets that my cat is currently taking. So, to sum up, yes, it IS on the pricey side, but if you have to cut medication Tablets on a regular basis, the time and stress that this pill cutter will save you, makes it definitely WORTH ITS WEIGHT IN GOLD!

Does a great job
I have tried a number of pill cutters and this one, while a bit more expensive, is by far the best. It has a blade below and above the pill so does a nice clean cut very easily.
