My understanding of a sediment filter is to trap particles that get past your pump screen to keep them out of your pressure tank and the rest of your water system. We have an iron curtain, water softened, etc to try to remove impurities. I realized that our water lines were also getting clogged with sediment while working other issues with plumbing and clogs. I decided to install the sediment filter and I have to say I I was skeptical but it definitely works great. My issue is that the filter needs to be cleaned out a lot. At some point I needed to remove and clean it daily with the 50 micron filter. Pain in the ass but necessary. I tried the 200 micron filter instead and I think that will still protect my systems enough without cleaning it so often.
