Well-made, but very stiff bristles
This is a good brush, but the bristles are much stiffer than the brush I was trying to replace. I can't really deduct stars for that though -- it is well made and it is what it is. I just like more flexible bristles. I always thought my old brush was a Goody, but now I think it must have been either a Denman D4 or a copy. Sounds like the Denman bristles are more flexible so I'll try that next. Couldn't find it for a good price on Amazon -- Walmart.com has it though.

Looks and feels like a good quality brush.
Detangles hair very well. Feels good in your hand.

Why spend so much on a Denman?
This has the same sort of base and bristles as far as I can tell. I have thick curly hair and it works well. Good enough for me!

Not the same as my old one, but it’ll do.
So I was trying to replace my beloved Goody hairbrush, which used to be available at every drugstore and wherever Goody products were sold. It’s getting harder and harder to find any of the classic items that Goody used to have everywhere, barrettes, elastic hair bands, hair clips, etc. This hair brush was the closest I could find at a reasonable price. I’m wary of the complaints on other listings for similar, pricier brands due to the fear of fakes. This brush has a wood handle, I would have preferred the solid plastic of my old brush, because it would last better since I’m using it on wet hair. The bristles are less flexible and slightly thinner and pointier on the tips. Therefore they aren’t as gentle on the scalp. It’s a minor difference, but if you have a tender scalp, you’ll notice. Plus I can’t help thinking that if the bristles are thinner and more stiff, that they’ll bend and or break more easily and sooner. I’m replacing my old brush because after 25 years, the rubber base is starting to crumble. I’ve had curly hair and straight hair, thick hair and fine hair brushed with my old brush and I’ve never lost or bent a bristle. I would never use a blow dryer for this brush, it’s not meant for blowouts. In the photos, my old one is the ivory one and the new one is black.

Stocking up on these brushes just in case they're ever discontinued
Been using Goody's Heritage brush for about six-years now. During that time, I went through my first brush in four-years (using intensively for styling every single day, with product, hairspray and gel), and have since purchased a few more brushes for travel, bathroom, etc. I'm a male, 20-something with thick medium-length hair that I style everyday. This brush is very dependable, made with exceptional quality and a solid wooden handle, and honestly just a beautiful hairbrush. Gonna stock up on these brushes just in case they're ever discontinued – Strongly recommended if you use this kind of brush – You'll be getting an exceptional product.

Perfect for blowouts
This brush will NOT melt under high heat. Perfect for blow outs, especially on coarse hair.

~~MUST BUY~~
Omg! This is what I have been looking for! This Bush isn’t flimsy at all. It is magic for thick hair!! It penetrates all the way to the scalp without the whole brush sliding out the way other brands do!!!This is a must by! I almost want to buy 10 just to make sure it isn’t discontinued in years to come!

Gets the knots out with some pain
If your curly/wavy hair is prone to knotting, this brush is good(y). Lol But seriously, if you don’t mind the pain of brushing out the knots more efficiently than a wet brush with softer bristles, then this is the brush for you.

It is sturdy
It works well and easy to clean.

Not for thick hair
Like the brush but if you have thick and/or curly hair the top part slides off easily.
